It was less sales and more Andi Khouri getting outed for hiring a huge number of rapists/sexual predators (who he openly said he would rather hire because they were liberal, than give a conservative comic writer work).

Vertigo traditionally aren't supposed to sell big and the entire line is kept afloat by evergreen titles (Sandman, Swamp Thing, Preacher, Transmetropolitican for instance).

Had Khouri not got caught giving rapists work while being caught red handed blackballing conservatives, TPTB might have just kept him going and take their chances having Warner exercise their media rights on Khouri's finds books for TV shows or movies (as Warner gets first dibs on any creator owned Vertigo book media adaptation-wise, even if they don't intend on adapting it) since they don't have to pay much for them under their boilerplate contracts. Khouri's bullshit "liberal rapist > conservative law abiding creator" hiring policy rendered the entire brand radioactive to a degree that they had no choice but to kill it.

How many people is it, now? There was that photographer she scammed and slandered back in her softcore porn days, the guy she sexually harassed/assaulted at a wedding, those troons she scammed and lied to and used as slave labor, Eron, several other ex boyfriends, multiple women whose boyfriends or husbands she slept with, Alec, the list goes on.

Not to mention that being publicly connected to Zoe Quinn in any capacity as friend or foe is a one-way ticket to becoming a person of interest to the Farms and having all of your info dug up and permanently featured here. It also has the same stigma that coming forward as a Weinstein victim has: for the rest of your life, from now on, everyone knows you're the woman whose boyfriend or husband cheated on you with indie gaming's fat STD-riddled village bicycle. How embarrassing. Don't confuse how she responds with the average person with how she would have to behave if somebody actually got pissed off and made an actual legal issue out of it. Zoe only gets away with mobbing people with braindead followers like that in places like twitter and only so long as she can keep the victim from making an issue out of it through intimidation. She loses that ability to moment somebody takes it to court. That behavior isn't something she can engage in with a person at that point, as it immediately becomes blatant witness intimidation and threatening, which no court will tolerate and has some pretty serious consequences. If those followers did it without her direct say so its still witness intimidation. Places like twitter can't knowingly facilitate it so if she tries to go full gamergate in such a scenario her victim can arrange a court order for twitter and any other social media platform that such incidents start on to shut it down on the grounds of witness intimidation. She can't run to the media for the same reason

In short, her ability to fuck with people is limited and only exists so long as she can intimidate others into not taking action to stop it. She doesn't have nearly as much power as she thinks she does, or as others sometimes think she does. Aside from that, shes not a very smart sociopath as far as sociopaths go. If she were, gamergate never would have happened and she wouldn't have made herself so toxic, with so much shit tied to her

Publicly pledging donations to a charity openly when they've never heard of you and by extension never received such donations is the kind of thing idiots do to try to hide what happened to a certain amount of money they were 'pledging' when they were trying to embezzle it. Incidents like that is how you get the IRS knocking at your door ensuring you aren't trying to hide any money from the tax man by claiming it was donated. Keep in mind this isn't a random person doing it, shes doing it as a developer running a company, which is why it will draw attention if the IRS finds out about it. They don't fuck around, particularly with people who have questionable histories
