That's why the smarter among us in my field move to New Jersey instead. I'm here for work and to advance my career, nothing more. I've hated New York City ever since I first set foot in Times Square as a teenager all those years ago. I have no vested interest in defending it, but I'll be damned if they're allowed to set authoritarian precedents for the rest of the country. They were the first US city to enforce vaccine mandates, and by the end of 2021, almost a dozen other heavily democrat-controlled cities followed, my own included (even though it got implemented three weeks ago and no one actually enforces it).

Manhattan would fall apart within 48 hours if every blue collar worker just called in sick for five days. No subway, no buses, no line cooks/busboys/waitstaff, no deliveries, no supermarket workers, no plumbers/pipe/steam fitters (most apartment buildings run on steam heat and this is a city of apartments), no police (there ya go BLM) and the bugs fall.
