Nintendo Switch (Currently Plagued) - Here we shit post about the new Nintendo console, The Switch

I don't get why anyone would be excited for an obviously self censored game like XC3, I mean look at the designs compared to XC2. Heavily censored.
Compare the first trailer for Xenoblade 2 and Xenoblade 3 and you'll quickly figure out why they changed the art style. Xenoblade 3 definitely seems to be taking a far more serious tone, with war and loss being large themes from the looks of it.

I mean just compare the music for the two trailers.

Xenoblade 2 opens up with this band playing this big orchestral piece that conveys the feeling of adventure and endless exploration. Xenoblade 3 opens with a lone flute followed up by an orchestra with a far more sombre melody that then feels more serious when the other instruments kick in.

Changing the tone of a game means changing a lot. Including how scenes are lit, the music used, the choreography, and yes, even the character designs.

I’m almost a day late, but I managed to look at what the new Nintendo Switch Direct had to offer, and it was actually interesting.

  • Kirby and The Forgotten Land is one of the best Kirby titles I’ve seen in long time. It almost looks like Super Mario Odyssey, but I’m not complaining. As someone that was on and off with the Kirby series as far as playing them goes, I’ll be picking this up during the Spring time for sure.
  • Mario Strikers Battle League looks pretty entertaining, and it brings back nostalgia from the first Super Mario Strikers for the GameCube and the second game for the Wii. Without a doubt, I’ll play this one come June.
  • Chrono Cross is no Chrono Trigger, but it’s nice to see it get the remastered version it deserves. You can still get the PS1 Greatest Hits version online for a cheap price, though I won’t get shocked if it goes up in price. People don’t know that you can not only get that for the PS1, but you can also get the 2-in-1 Final Fantasy IV and Chrono Trigger series, with the latter having more new features and never before seen cutscenes that were not in the SNES version.
  • Klonoa was the first platformer that I never heard of, and yet I still was amazed at how good it looked. I think I told @Vyse Inglebard and @Dom Cruise that North American markets did not do any good favors trying to not advertise the under appreciated and rare games that wanted to branch out from Japan. I even had to look at some YT videos that were made by fans of the series, and it was nice to see fans of a game tell me more about what it was like to play the PS1 and PS2/Wii versions of this game.

If some of you Klonoa fans can give me some advice about what it was like to play this game for the first time, it would be much appreciated.
  • Triangle Strategy looks like Octopath Traveler, though I’m not complaining. That RPG was actually good, in my opinion, and I’ll wait to see some gameplay footage to see how I’m proven wrong in the future. In fact, I still have yet to play Hades.
  • Fire Emblem: Warriors - Three Hopes seems like the people that make FE really can’t take a break. From Heroes to the original Three Houses, I do want to see the difference between both games and see if they at least handle consistency as much as they did with the 3DS versions. I just don’t want them to lose track of what made FE important.
  • MLB: The Show 22 is actually the first baseball game that I hope does not get as lazy as NBA 2K22 or FIFA 22. Shōhei Ohtani is a real big deal in the MLB, and I hope his cover star image does not get tarnished due to a bad port from the PS4/5 and Xbox Series X versions. Though, knowing today’s sports games, that’s probably too much to ask for.
  • Xenoblade Chronicles 3 looks pretty good, since coincidentally, I had actually wanted to play XC, XCX and XC2 since last year. Hack and slash games are going nowhere anytime soon, and I wonder how they’ll follow up the success they had with the second game. If it blows up the same way Bayonetta 2 did, I will not be at a loss for words.
Overall, not a bad showing for Nintendo this year. Aside from the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC with 48 new race tracks (much like Mario Party, I’ve played too much Mario Kart over the years to know what to expect), this could for once be a good year for Nintendo’s video games. Apart from the success they had with Metroid Dread and the new updates they announced for the game, I’m looking forward to see how Spring 2022 will fare from the business end on Nintendo‘s side.

Either way, I’m all out of things to say on this part, so I’ll just go on the Nintendo Fan Stupidity Thread and just lurk on there. :P

It's actually sorta like Kirby, in a way: cute AF aesthetics, with an unexpectedly dark and tragic underbelly. There's also a sort of collect-a-thon esque sidequest where there are a certain number of villagers trapped within a level. Rescuing all of them will unlock some great rewards.

I was probably one of the few kids who actually got the original game not long after it released, so the game holds a special place in my heart. Always loved the visuals, the amazing music, ect. The second game I didn't play till about 2015 or 16 I think, and I was able to get a physical copy at a relatively decent price, before copies started to get absurdly expensive.

The games seem relatively simple at first glance, and while the stories aren't necessarily complex, they are pretty heartfelt and emotional. The second game in particular tackles some themes that are probably more relevant today than they have ever been in my opinion. So, it's pretty awesome that it's finally getting a re-release after twenty years.

What’s funny is that one of the fans of Klonoa when it came to a Retrospective™ video for the game made a light jab at the comparison between Klonoa and Sonic

But then when they talked about Klonoa 2, I couldn’t help but notice this:

Obviously those latter two are not obscure characters, but I do wonder if new age Klonoa fans will try to say that the game that was looked at as almost obscure at one point did it better than the Hedgehog and the Ocarina.

It has been a little over 24 hours and the Klonoa dweebs are almost as insufferable as the Mother spergs. The game looks fun. I want to give the fans a swirlie though.

I am wondering about the Mario Mart DLC. The first wave looks good but I am curious if the later packs (which have more time for development) will look better; or if they will be able to maintain a consistent level of quality throughout. We should be getting new packs every 3-4 months until the end of 2023. Oh! I also want to see some more tracks with three checkpoints rather than three laps.

Brush up, nigs.

I think they're directly ripping the tracks from the mobile game, but the models are going to need to be compared. This wouldn't be the first time they were this lazy.

As long as I get my Banshee Boardwalk I’m a happy camper

Well with the direct the only games I'm interested from what they show are Three Hopes since I did enjoy Three Houses, the new Kirby game, and Advanced Wars. There is stuff that looks cool but just isn't for me.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is a maybe but if I do play it, I'd probably play it with Japanese audio because the British voices are genuinely grating to me personally

At first I thought it was cool that we're getting Mario Kart Tour tracks in a real Mario Kart game, but those look so boring. They look like tracks edited down for some kind of beginner baby mode, except I guess that's just what they are by virtue of being from Tour.
