Yes, but you can call your opposition bigots and call upon private companies to restrict their ability to criticize them. It's not the past anymore where media was hard to produce and gatekept by distributers, but large websites like Twitter can still manufacture context. What's trending is curated, the loudest on twitter are statistically small to the point of really not existing in numbers that should be cared about, and a lot of users are literal bots.
