Theoretically, even if they were reading them it isn't like they can bring the contents up in court or anything. "Yes, yer honor. We violated his civil rights."

Because that would take time, money, and effort. They're not going to set up a communist East Germany style apparatus to try to prevent Chris from overthrowing the party leadership or something. It's just not worth it.

Incoming mail is screened to stop contraband from getting in. There's absolutely nothing Chris can do to jeopardize the facility by sending out letters.

And because Chris is still not guilty, and yes legal protections do matter because it could cost the government a lot of money in a lawsuit.

Attorney on contingency. Also called ambulance chasers. Sue for a shitton of money, attorney gets a big cut of it.

EDIT: That said, ever since Virginia and a couple of other states have switched to doing the scan-and-shred method, there's been a lot of privacy concerns raised. Mostly because the contractor that does it, Smart Communications, likes to brag about how all incoming mail is stored and can be pulled up on demand, as a selling point to try to convince states to use their services. Also, they have always kept a record of who is mailing who -- the metadata on the outside of the envelope.

They can't read your outgoing mail without probable cause. Obviously that could be abused but there could definitely be blowback if they did it too much and wound up doing it to the wrong person.

Chris made it very clear that he did not want this letter uploaded. Why is it okay for Kengle to do it now? Is it because it was partially deciphered, or did Chris have a final falling out with Kengle? Has Chris granted permission to upload it? Could we be done with receiving letters uploaded from Kengle?

I think it's interesting that Chris says he knew years in advance that he would be going to jail. That's a really solid confirmation that he knew what he was doing was illegal. Now he's claiming to have willingly given up his freedom. I know there is an idea that in peaceful protest you have to be willing to accept consequences for your actions even if you believe them to be just, but very few people would extend that to incest.

When the CWCki is back up, I might upload the drawings Chris included on page 2. I'm not familiar with Hyperdimension Neptunia but Chris has confirmed that the ON/OFF symbol is a sharicite crystal, which comes from those games. According to the Neptunia Wiki sharicite is crystallized faith of a CPU's followers. The crystals are made by oracles, women who are like secretaries of state or regulators. I wonder if Chris is looking to nominate an oracle as a second in command in his Neo Spirituality Christianity.

It's worth noting that all the oracles in the games are females.

As we know, Chris does not let go of grudges unless people suddenly prove useful to him or otherwise he benefits from 'letting bygones be bygones'.

This is bad for Kengle if he still wants to be the point man for Chris and whatever sad legitimacy Onionfarms has.
