Traveled north and visited some family recently who live in the bluest state in the country- the state doesn’t have a single red county. Despite this, they let the mask mandate lapse awhile back, and the RINO governor has been resisting loud calls to re-implement it (him not doing so is largely the result of his not seeking re-election this year, so he’s more comfortable with not pandering entirely to the liberals at this point). He’s also letting the school mask mandate lapse at the end of this month, which has really angered a lot of people up there. There still is, however, a vax mandate for state workers.
It’s mostly left up to localities now. The state capital has a mask-and-vax mandate for basically everything (which they’re not getting rid of anytime soon), though I’m unsure of any other town/city in the state that restricts food/recreation by *vax status*. It’s mostly mask mandates- the communities in the immediate vicinity of said capital city have masking. But outside of that, the mandates are less common.
IDK…the state is so blue and the people up there are so masochistic as it relates to government control over their lives that I’m sure keeping the mandates in place wouldn’t have been too politically dangerous anyway. These are people who’ll happily accept/call for the most draconian of measures while telling themselves that it’s all fine and dandy because Science!™, which is little more than an egotistical masturbatory exercise in assuring themselves of the superior intellect that they definitely possess. The political class otoh probably saw some dire internal polls that were sufficiently worrying even up there…

Minneapolis, St. Paul, and Duluth all dropped their vaccine or test requirements in the last week for restaurants, I'm guessing it's because sales for local businesses tanked like 20 percent. On top of that, I think dems know the mandates are a losing strategy, people are getting really sick of covid shit.
