Watched the Louis Theroux documentary via the KF watch party. I wonder why it would be that the chat kept crashing every twenty seconds, yet the stream worked fine. I would imagine it would be the other way around.

As for the documentary itself, it was rather boring, though I could be thinking so because I am already familiar with all the people in it, and their online hijinks are much more entertaining.

I understand that when Nick Fuentes brings up ‘optics’, he means not looking pathetic and idiotic rather than not airing unacceptable opinions, but pathetic and idiotic is exactly how his colleagues, Baked Alaska and Beardson Beardly, and Brittany Venti as well, came off. I doubt many people would want to associate with them after such an introduction, regardless of their views.

I do not see why they would not just own throwing Nazi salutes and the like, considering Louis Theroux and most people watching the documentary would end up thinking they are neo-Nazis anyway. They could have demonstrated some character, at least.

Fucking Idubbbz did the same thing better in his Sam Hyde video when he broke the forth wall and told people not to fall for the irony. Louis is playing to the normies and trying to scare them despite AF being a joke. Really seems like Louis doesn't give a shit about their influence and just tried to make something entertaining. Whether that is because he thinks they are too embarrassing to grow much further or because he is just out of touch with the internet is up for debate.

It's a far cry from how he used optics back in 2017, where it was literally just that, how you presented yourself to people and how you were received based on that presentation. The fact that it's now about just not looking like a complete and total fuckup should show you just how far he's fallen.

It is a really weird taboo to still have hanging around, particularly for a movement whose main ideological tenet these days is literally just straight up unironic misogyny. I think the main thing holding them back is that they (correctly) feel that if they were to do that it would be handing a massive W to everyone he built his career off of shitting on for being "Cartoon nazis" (i.e, Heimbach, Spencer, Enoch, etc.) and his ego simply won't let him do that. You can tell he desperately wants to do that sort of stuff, even if just as more insincere irony shit, just based on how much he's been comparing himself to hitler lately and just how much he's gone off the rails.

To be fair with the kind of documentaries Theroux is known for anf the fact that he's a fairly liberal guy making a program about an ostensible white nationalist, assuming it would be a hitpiece of some kind really isn't all that unwarranted. Now, the extent to which it was effective as such is still up in the air, but you can't really hold it against people too much.
