I was a part of the DeviantART MJ ghost drama from 2010-2011, which actually began for me on YouTube around August 2009. I’ve never shared my experience with anyone and I was starting to think I had dreamed an entire era of my life until I came across this thread. Seeing all those old familiar usernames has brought back so many memories. Thank you for all the work you’ve been doing on here, it’s amazing to know someone who victimised me (as well as countless others) as an impressionable teen is finally being held accountable. The internet is an amazing place!

I don’t know anything about Kathy sleeping with a 17 year old, but I’m happy to tell you what I can remember from the MJ harem. I had posted a MJ tribute video after his death and was contacted by a guy named Peter soon after. We talked for a while but as soon as I found out he was 50, I blocked him. That’s when Stephanie reached out me through private message and claimed that Peter was the account she uses to channel MJ.
The fact the “family” were all children speaks volumes. I mean, would a 20 something believe this? Probably not. I remember everyone in the group had some kind of shit going on in their personal life; bullying, illnesses, abuse, etc. I had openly discussed my depression and ED with friends on YT and I wouldn’t be surprised if Steph had picked me because she believed me to be vulnerable.
By the time we moved over to DeviantART, things started to get out of control. I remember Kathy marrying MJ and sharing with us a photo of her in a wedding dress. We were constantly told to belittle the non-believers that would show up, and made to feel as though MJ was this sensitive guy we needed to protect at all costs. Honestly it’s creepy to look back on this stuff, as a teen I really didn’t see it as grooming but now it’s as clear as day.
I actually found this forum because it still haunts me to this day. Sometimes I’ll search up old usernames and see if anything resurfaces, but to find this is like a treasure trove. Although I’m really embarrassed by the cringy “daddy” stuff! I’m sorry you’ve all been subjected that

Glad to see that the hours poured over the gag me erotica Staph and Katy wrote publically brought in another victim.

That still sticks out to me. I was creeped out at a 50 year old man talking to someone he knew to be a very young teen, so I didn’t give blocking the account a second thought. I remember Stephanie’s private message came a day later and it was like 2 or 3 paragraphs long. Basically giving me the choice whether I wanted to believe it and it seemed like I was being offered into an exclusive club, like I was special or chosen or something. Even back then I wondered if I was only choosing to believe that she was MJ’s ghost because I wanted it to be true so badly. Somewhere in her message she said that MJ wanted me to know and I was honestly flattered, I was a boring kid and it was so exciting at the time.

By the time we got to DA, there was a lot of favouritism happening. Stephanie seemed to enjoy the way we all fought for MJ’s attention, but seemed to favour Chelly the most. It was like, the more broken you are, the more love and attention you get. My problems were all in my head, but Chelly had some serious stuff going on and it was evident to everyone in the group that she was the favourite child. We thought they were aggressive and hostile towards us, but looking back it’s obvious they were just really angry with Stephanie and her disgusting behaviour. We just took the brunt of it so she didn’t have to.

I also remember the way Stephanie would go to great lengths to make the whole thing seem believable, like sharing rare photos of MJ and telling us the backstory. One photo was of MJ and this blond guy that none of us had ever seen. “MJ” explained that he was bisexual but no one knew about it when he was alive and that the guy in the photo was one of his great loves. I thought I knew everything about him so this was like an exciting detail only his favourite children could be trusted with.

Kathy was present throughout all this, but she always just seemed off to me. Her art was weird and she draw photos of anime characters and celebrities for me all the time. She sent me a photo once of her in a wedding dress, claiming she was marrying MJ’s ghost. It felt strange even back then (when I was a dumbass tween). Why would a celebrity as huge as MJ was marry this random middle-aged woman? If someone knows her relation to Stephanie or her role in all of this, I would love to know! She always came across as this side character no one really cared about, just someone you’d talk to when MJ was offline.
