Next move, I guess, is going after leadership. Pat King and Tamara Lich are going to be living like Yasser Arafat did pretty soon.I guess we will have to see how these next few weeks shake out. Did he activate the Emergencies Act as a threat that he is unwilling to follow through on, like everything else so far? Will he crack down hard in a manner that is outrageous to the general public? Will the protester response be to fold? Will things get violent? It is all so volatile at this point that it becomes extremely difficult to predict, at this stage; definitely an alea iacta est moment.
The Philippines was under martial law for 20 years, and it completely fucked it up. And now the son of a dictator is actually leading in the polls for the next election. It's not particularly rare for governments to seize emergency powers and never relinquish them. While I would not necessarily consider it probable, I do not think it inconceivable that Canada may be under martial law for the rest of my life. For example:
- Martial law in Taiwan (38 years, ended 1987)
- Syria to end 48 years of martial law (ended 2011)
I feel as though this could go either way. Historically, there was the "rally around the flag" effect, wherein a society would give up on their petty differences and come together in the event of war. Now, the Western world is so deeply polarized that I am unsure if that phenomenon would still work. I get the sense that a major war would just turn into yet another big wedge issue. For example, look at how the coronavirus scamdemic has gone so far. At first, if you took it seriously, you were a literal nazi misogynist transphobic white supremacist terrorist, and now if you do not take it seriously, you are a literal nazi misogynist transphobic white supremacist terrorist. At no point has there been any agreement or unanimity on what to do about the virus, which one might think ought to be fairly objective instead of a political exercise. It speaks to the total separation of Western left/right worldviews; that there is practically zero common ground anymore.Yeah. What concerns me is that if Russia invades Ukraine the war measures nonsense might last for fucking years as deputy prime minister nazi grandpa is a full blown Ukrainian jingoist
The rest of BC needs liberation from the tyranny of the lower-mainland/island bourgeoisie. They are beyond Hope, not us.Of fucking course BC ain't on there.
Not all of them. Well, yes geography jokes. But also no.They are beyond Hope, not us.

The US was under a state of emergency from 1933 to 1978. FDR used that emergency status to sign an executive order banning the private ownership of gold. Now we're under a few dozen of them, mostly with extremely narrow scopes however. It's not particularly rare for governments to seize emergency powers and never relinquish them.
RIP Coutts convoy, you had a good run.Since the site is still be wonky af I don't know if these were posted (I didn't see them), I'll just post links for now and archives later.
Statement from the head of security of the Ottawa convoy about suspecting potential false flag re: the missing guns reported yesterday:
Press conference from Tamara Lich and Brian Peckford (last living founder of the Charter) before the Emergency Act was called into effect:
Coutts convoy planning to leave 10AM tomorrow because of the guns discovered by RCMP last night:
This one is interesting because of the wording... "being unearthed", which isn't really a confirmation that they're theirs, but we won't know until it gets to courts.
My tinfoil hat wonders if it has anything to do with the same guns that conveniently went missing, but rural Albertans do have a lot of guns, so who knows.
west kootaneys and the Okanogan is just as lefty as the island
sicamous, cranbrook and everything prince george and north are rightful alberta clay though
Creston guy here, we're just as fed up of it.The rest of BC needs liberation from the tyranny of the lower-mainland/island bourgeoisie. They are beyond Hope, not us.
You all gon'die.
The RCMP said they recently became aware of a small organized group within those involved in the larger Coutts border protest. Alberta RCMP Supt. Roberta McKale said it’s believed the smaller group arrived within days of the initial group of protesters arriving at the border.
“The group was said to have a willingness to use force against the police if any attempts were made to disrupt the blockade,” RCMP said in a news release.
“This resulted in an immediate and complex investigation to determine the extent of the threat and criminal organization.”
A search warrant was executed early Monday morning on three trailers that RCMP allege were associated with the criminal organization.
Kenney added that if the federal government chose to invoke the act, he would respect the decision. In a separate news conference after the act was invoked, Kenney maintained that Alberta has the “legal tools and the operational resources we need to ensure law and order.”
“I know the blockade at Coutts has been frustrating (and) has gone on for too long, but today we were able to reveal why there’s been a relatively light touch in enforcement for much of that period, due to the investigation that was undertaken regarding this potentially violent cell and the RCMP’s need to prepare its tactical operation to remove that potential violent threat before they could proceed with more conventional enforcement against the blockade,” he said.
Toronto-Dominion Bank has frozen two personal bank accounts into which $1.4 million (US$1.1 million) had been deposited to support protesters fighting the Canadian government’s pandemic measures, a bank spokesperson said on Saturday.
Canada’s other major banks did not immediately respond to emails asking if they were taking steps similar to TD.
The country’s anti-money-laundering agency told a parliamentary committee on Thursday that it has not seen a spike in suspicious transaction reporting from the banks in recent weeks.
Clown Fucking World. Now Honk Honk, cuz memes don´t stay dreams. So let me get this straight: we have military stand-off, tranny hackers stealing the donations and now Trudeau has declared himself dictator?
What the fuck is this timeline
The Coutts situation is SO bizarre. They were aware of this "smaller group" early on but didn't do anything? This "group" went around talking about how they were willing to use force? And the RCMP just waited until the same day of the Emergency Measures Act being enacted? Definitely glowsA detailed article breaking down what happened in Coutts. (Archive) Spoiler: it glows like the sun.
