You know, I'm not a total urbanite, but I'm closer to that than I am a farmer or a trucker.
But didn't we all, like, universally decide we valued individual liberty until about ten years ago? Wasn't that a concept that nearly the entire world agreed was a good idea, save for a few backward, legacy communist states?
It's like I fell into some kind of ideological wormhole in 2012 and ended up in a universe where half the population of the west not only accepts but demands open, brazen authoritarianism in their own societies.
