They’re “gradually” ending it, meaning they’ll drop some stuff then reimplement it. Don’t believe their lies.
I completely agree that one should not trust them, but I still think it is cause for a certain degree of optimism. It is demonstrative of the power that the truckers have, and how much they have accomplished so far. The national conversation has shifted substantially. Before these protests, it was basically a foregone conclusion that these measures would remain in place forever, if you objected to them you were a dangerous schizo who needed to be banned from everything, and they were on track to continually strengthen the measures on everyone, or tighten the noose.
For example, before these protests, they were starting to gear up to 'upgrade' the vaccine passport systems to boot mere double-vaxcucks off the pass, and only allow boostercucks in the system, i.e. to try and force booster compliance. Now authorities are on the back foot, and are being forced back into their "THESE MEASURES ARE ONLY TEMPORARY, CALM DOWN, ONLY TWO MORE WEEKS" game, except they've already played that card before, multiple times, so public patience is running thin. Even if every MSM outlet is running a 24/7 smear campaign against the truckers, recent polls have repeatedly shown that the Canadian public is done with all the mandates and restrictions, and a majority want everything dropped. Especially with a lack of compliance with boosters from double-vaxxers, I do not see how much longer they can keep playing this game. There will always be a small fringe minority of government loyalist zealots, but a majority of Canadians have already moved on.
The longer this drags out, the more pushing these policies will become political anathema, or political suicide. The powers that be had a good run with the presentation of a united front from all parties (other than the no-seats, but still admirable PPC), meaning there was no way to vote against it, but now that O'Toole has been booted out, the game has changed. There's rumoured talk of the NDP booting out Singh too, as well as Trudeau himself facing a caucus revolt. The MPs in all parties are getting antsy that the jig is up, and they don't seem to be willing to sacrifice their own political careers on the altar of this covid cult.
