RWBY - The Hindenburg on which Rooster Teeth rests its hopes, dreams and future

@The Periodic Gamer said: Look, Celtic is a moron who doesn't understand how to tell a good story. He's in that sweet spot of good enough to know the basics, but not good enough to realize he's a hack.

Anyone willing to look at Judgmental Critter and Twiins' iink's podcast about RWBY rewrites?
Here it is.
So first of all peep the comments, the retardation and copium is off the charts. I'm going to paraphrase and write down the gist of what they're saying, my own thoughts will be in brackets.

>1:30 or so they call rewrites out for being what they are; an AU fanfic.
>2:40 or so they call out the FNDM for dunking on rewrites. [The mocking tone of voice makes me suspect that they will be defending the rewrites and not adressing any sort of criticism beyond the classic "let people like things" tripe.]
>3:00-4:45 They explain what a rewrite is and how it is a spectrum.
>4:45 They address that the first criticism they used to see of FRWBY is "I don't like the word 'fixing'". [Holy Jesus they're actually addressing this as if it's a serious thing. God help me if this whole video is just going to be these two midwits building up and knocking down strawmen.
>5:45 "Monty didn't build this as a monolith. It's not like The Bible where you're not supposed to think about it differently." [Wait until she finds out how many different interpretations of the bible there are.]
>5:55 She asserts that fan OCs and rewrites and fanfiction and new ideas are part of enjoying a medium. [I agree with this, but this doesn't address the fact that the QUALITY of the fan work is in question here, not the creator's right to create it. I have a sinking feeling that these dumb holes aren't actually going to address the quality and instead assert that it is good simply because it's a fan work or some shit.]
>6:50 They straight up ask "where are all these bad rewrites?" [The obvious irony here being that they're looking at one without recognizing it.]

I legitimately can't listen to the rest of this, these bitches are retarded and they completely miss the point I got eight minutes in and I am ready to kill myself. The issue is that they are attacking the people bitching about rewrites as a concept without going into the question of whether or not these rewrites are actually of a decent quality. I had to go into the other videos by Twiin Iink since I'd heard that name before but couldn't remember where and I recognized a couple of videos of her's that I had seen before, the bad post-Volume 3 character design video she did and the video where she bitches about Weiss's semblance, both of which are surface level shit that anyone could have done.

But what can you expect from someone who likes Legend of Korra?

@Sleazy Car Salesman Yeah, exactly.

@Rhymes 19 See, stuff like this is why I don't always agree with the audience. -Yes, the audience may like my stuff, but the audience is also -retarded--.

Impressive writing would've been having Torchwick get called out for being a sleazebag, and Celtic making it work. Impressive writing would've been Roman never stopping being a sleazebag, and instead doing the right thing for the wrong reasons till the day he died and keeping Roman Sympathetic. Impressive writing would've been taking the time to write Torchwick as a smart character, and trusting Torchwick as a character enough to give him serious antagonists.

'Morally gray', and 'bad', really fall apart the second you shy away from forcing the character to face their own actions.

These two somehow managed to combined the worse aspects of mediocrity4 and Unicorn of War. Their videos alone are incredibly monotonous and devoid of any new ideas. Not to mention the massive suckfest towards fan content.

Torchwick is an impressively written morally gray character because he did bad stuff once and now does good stuff while making tit jokes.
Now that's a certified Redditor moment. Autistically overanalytical yet somehow completely misses the mark by miles.

Thank you for putting it into words in a way that I could not.

Mediaocrity4 once told us he was happy he got his first job at 27 because he's fine with still mooching off his mother while he finally has his own money to buy vidya and junk food.

Redditors don't understand that just because you say a lot doesn't mean it's an analysis.

If anything this make her feel like Ruby Rose, the underaged prostitute from Victorian England/Oregon Trail America.
The funny part is, I've basically been saying the same thing about canon Ruby Rose since volume 4. To paraphrase a Youtube comment I saw once:

"Ruby looks more and more like the prostitute she will have to become when this RWBY thing doesn't work out for her.

My synopsis of RWBY since V2 has always been "RWBY is what happens when you never grow up to realize that all those cool story ideas you had as a kid were really stupid ideas."

Only since V2?
I actually really liked V1 and V2. It was janky and shitty and anything that wasn't a fight scene looked like ass but I've always had a soft spot for rebel entertainment and outlaw productions, plus for all of it's problems the show had a serious sense of style with the colors, character designs, and fight choreography. It wasn't great, but it had great moments and you could tell that the crew was truly passionate and so I gave it a pass. The show took a serious downturn in V3 and lost a lot of the snap that I used to watch for, the fights got worse and the other stuff that was already mediocre to bad wasn't getting better. V3 still had it's moments but V1-V2 will always be "RWBY" to me. RWBY to me will always be like when you find an old animation on Youtube from like twelve years ago and realize the guy only made like three episodes and then hasn't been seen for eight years, but those three episodes are great. Or that ancient webcomic that was phenomenal for 200 chapters and then just sort of stopped, no more updates, no closure.

Ah yes, RIP Monty. How amazing is it that everything about this show was directly tied to one single man.

Let’s just hope that the money was well saved and managed.

Because the show was made more or less entirely by him, it was one of those special autistic passion projects. CRWBY basically existed just to cover the bases Monty couldn't and without him the whole thing fell apart because no one could copy his style. I don't believe in "Monty's Vision" but I do believe that he had a signature that could not be readily duplicated.

I think that’s a better way to describe things instead of “visions” or “going rogue”. Sucks Shane didn’t think the same way.

Shane's misfortune was self inflicted. He had lost someone that he saw as a very dear friend and in the absence of time cooler heads couldn't prevail, everybody deals with grief differently and clearly Shane was the type to lash out. Of course allowing himself to fall into the trap of hero worship was the first mistake but the level of hubris and entitlement in that letter is mind boggling. It really is too bad that he spent so much time sucking Monty's dick.

Good God. And bear in mind JC and Twiins are the same hyporcritical assholes who shit on Adam fans like some kind of FNDM police, but are still malding over the way Ironwood was handled.

In regards to Simp Newville, yeah, I'd say both sides had good points. Shane was a big fucking simp who wouldn't get along, and is too oblivious to Monty inventing the crunch culture. His deadset insistence on having Raven vs JNPR happen in VALE before the fall (despite not being remotely related to Yang) is stupid, and Yang having her arm cut off in one stroke was designed to showcase power levels and create some narrative drama. And that's not factoring in the other thread this site has about him and Sheena.

However, the RT guys lack the autism to come up with something original, and have some of the worst corporate work-life balance cultures, and mald and seethe when they realize they're not one of the greats yet. We're talking "Gray Haddock mismanaging the Anim department, then taking funds to spend on pet project and himself" bad.

Anyways, who wants to take a steaming shit on the redesigned JNPR next?

Jaune Arc:
FRWBY Jaune.png
Jaune's design should've been given a more gallant and knightly look since he had taken a lot of inspiration the most from the figure he was based on, even more so than everyone else in RWBY, but somehow FRWBY in their infinite galaxy-braining wisdom, not only failed to understand that, but aslo managed to butcher a simple yet perfectly functional design. Literally the Bayverse Transformers design mentality is at work right here, No respect to the original and cohesive design and instead opted to grab whatever junk that was in the dumpster that day and called it Jaune. V7 Jaune, minus the hair, is actually a good design, heresy I know, and is so incredibly easy to improve upon, Mupa and Monarch are just too high up on their ego and their own farts to even acknowledge it. Also really? I mean really? RWBY is literally rule of cool and technomagic incarnate and the best helmet design they can do is a hoodie helm that looks like it was made by the combine?

Lee Ren:
FRWBY Ren.png
Remember what I said with Blake's design? Since Ren is discount Blake, almost everything I said about her can be applied towards his design. That martial artist look and most of the hints of Chinese influence that he was rocking back in his designs v1 to v8 are pretty much lost on this one. The phrase 'keep it simple, stupid' is again relevant when it comes to tackling his design and yet again FRWBY failed to understand that. Raymond said that Ren is supposedly androgynous and it was written in that dreaded onsen scene that Torchwick had mistaken him for a girl, but I cannot even mistake him for a woman unless I am half a kilometer away from him, I literally ran around the room, moving, and even flailing like a lunatic to see if I can mistake him as a her, but the biceps are such a dead giveaway that the excuse of only meeting each other in battle is completely moot.

Nora Valkyrie:
FRWBY Nora.png
This is not Nora, again Bayverse Transformers Design Mentality is at work here, but it's like seeing Bayverse Prime, they nailed some aspects but overall it's still not the Optimus Prime from the 80's. Yes the pink color scheme, the orange hair, and the personality emitted by poses assures you that she's Nora but it's not enough to help you to truly recognize that it's really her. Even ignoring all of that, FRWBY Nora feels like a bootleg of a certain someone in a series that Raymond oh so love to inject into his works...

TL; DR:
They threw away this perfect and iconic design with almost little to no flaws:
Image-result-for-rwby-nora.jpg

to give us, dollar store Aerith:
Aerith.pngFRWBY Nora cropped.png

and even then, despite not giving a shit about Final Fantasy, the fact that I compared her design with Aerith's made me feel dirty.
