Jim Sterling / James "Stephanie" Sterling / James Stanton/Sexton & in memoriam TotalBiscuit (John Bain) - One Gaming Lolcow Thread

Whoever knew NFT's would become Jim's new ad nauseam topic?

I don't even have to watch this video to know that he will mention how it's the most egregious example of 'late stage capitalism', how games production companies cashing in on the fad is somehow also evil and something about the effect on the environment.

Jim is a retarded troon but he has some valid points, NFTs being one of them. You need crypto to trade in NFTs and the process to generate crypto is wasteful in terms of energy and raw earth metals for the hardware. Its just a proof of work barrier to keep the ledger of all transactions secure essentially. Nothing practical is done with the mining work. It is wasteful and harmful for the environment.

NFTs have a huge problem right now with fraud. People scrape art sites and spotify to mint pictures as NFTs and pass it off like it was from the original artist.

I think NFTs might have a place in a few small areas if done right... They sort of already exist in gaming - CSGO for example has digital goods that are unique and can be bought and sold, though only through their internal CSGO marketplace, and cashing out goes to your steam wallet only. If micro-transactions or skins leaned more into the NFT space it would allow the items to be bought and sold for real money and potentially transferred to use in other games from the developer.

To save everyone the time of watching this dross, you can read the title and know the entire content of the video. Its just 10 minutes of bitching about NFTs, not even any jabs at Kotick.
What is even his arguments? With microtransactions you can at least argue of the devs trying to make gambling/locking up pieces of the game. NFT is just the random hot tech thing, and are pretty divorced from gaming overall.
Muh climate change is kinda hypocritical when you are a lump of lard consuming plastic shit imported from half the world away.
Trying to argue for it being a scam is just the most boring thing to say. Even South Park did it.

In a much funnier way, too. I havent gotten around to seeing the full episode they do the NFT joke in because it's locked to dumbass streaming subscription service shit but there's clips of the butters NFT salesman segments online and it's good shit because it doesnt go on forever it's just like "he tells them about nfts as a concept and they INSTANTLY end up getting addicted and you see the ridiculous fallout of that"
Why watch 10 minutes of stretched out stock footage and angry commentary clearly catastrophyzing shit to try and get internet good boy points from the social clique when you can watch fucking butters just talk a security guard into buying NFTs to distract him long enough so he can escape the asylum.

You can't go wrong with South Park. They did it so much better than Jim.

The same bullshit you always hear about, its a scam and muh environment. I didn't mention it but he actually spends more time shitting on Ubisoft than he does actually discussing NFTs.
Gifting employees NFTs is actually not a bad move when you have IP that has people hyped enough for the value to increase by speculation (especially if it's exclusive to employees).
It's like Konami giving employees unique Yu-Gi-Oh cards that can sell for a pretty penny (of course as long as Ubisoft is keeping those NFTs as a bonus rather than some prophesized future value).

The big question is who exactly is getting angry here, the workers or the shit stirrers.

I listened to the Under 700k stream with Null as part of my traveling listening. Good lord, if there’s one thing an ugly troon can say that makes me instantly discredit them is railing on “literally killing trans people”.

I also call bullshit with his claim that trooning out made him happy with his personal life. That’s always a cope.

As an aside, here's an article I found parodying Jim: https://hard-drive.net/jim-sterling...t-at-toll-worker-over-road-microtransactions/

I get why some might get annoyed about it, personally I'd rather just take a cash bonus than something I could sell on later but I can't help but think that most of those who are angry over it have been drinking the shit stirrer's koolaid and are mad because someone told them they should be.

After being released on bail, Sterling was nearly arrested again due to a tirade at a Chipotle after they were asked if they wanted to pay an extra dollar for guacamole.

You can hear it, can't you?

Yeah, a persecution complex appears to be part of the standard script for trooning out. They all try to invoke the ghost of Brandon Teena without knowing anything about her.

Brandon Teena was a lifelong conwoman with a string of financial deceptions, on top of a penchant for hitting on drunk women disguised as a man. It's the latter than ultimately got her murdered in 1993, it didn't have anything to do with targetted hatred for FtM, a concept unheard of back then anyway. Brandon Teena wasn't even evaluated with a sexual identity crisis until 1992 following a more committed suicide attempt, and she never referred to herself as transgendered. Interestingly, she did the whole breast binding thing in her male disguises to facilitate hitting on drunk girls, a detail that is telling in contemporary demands for more permanent surgical versions. I don't mean to speak ill of the dead, she had a miserable upbringing full of molestation (surprise surprise) and to be fair she coped with her shitty circumstances amazingly well. While her love of deception, and generally combatative (anti-)social behaviour may have painted a target on her back, she in no way deserved any of what happened.

Her murderers were complete cunts, really nasty pieces of work, and their motives were a personal hatred of Teena. The week before, they had kidnapped, roughed her up and then raped her, and then when it became apparent she was going to press charges, they set out to silence her for good. Brandon Teena's murder alongside two other people in the property was facillitated by near total apathy on the part of the local police department, which is why the case became infamous in the 90s. The sad story is now retroactively santisied of any misdeeds on the part of Brandon Teena, and misrepresented as an epic hate crime against all trannies everywhere. Teena herself would not have approved; she was very much about surviving using her wits and grit, and never labelled herself a vicitm or a tranny...

Jim pretending to empathise with Every Tranny Child Everywhere From The Beginning Of Time in that sub-loss video was as hilarious as it was disingenuous, too.

He's probably socially happier, though, given he didn't have a social life before he starting larping in his mind as a cartoonish parody of a slutty teen girl?

Unless there's something I haven't heard of it seems pretty clear that it was nothing or NFTs, rather than Ubisoft not giving any cash bonuses.
