Culture Black Immigrant Population Expected To Exceed US-Born Black Americans, Study Finds - The U.S. Black immigrant population is expected to increase to 9.5 million by 2060, doubling the current total.

A new report from the Pew Research Center highlights striking data about the population growth of Black immigrants in the U.S.

According to the study, there were 4.6 million Black immigrants living in the United States in 2019, an increase of 3% since 1980. The report adds that about 1 in 10 Black people living in the U.S. are not born in America.

At this rate, according to the data, the country's Black immigrant population would eventually exceed the U.S.-born Black population.

The U.S. Black immigrant population is expected to increase to 9.5 million by 2060, more than doubling the current total.
About 9% of Black people in the U.S. are second-generation Americans who have at least one parent born abroad, according to Pew.

Looking at the socio-economic status of Black immigrants, the data reveals that they have more college degrees than U.S.-born Black people and a higher median household income. Still, Black immigrants face the same amount of discrimination as Black people born in the U.S, the study concludes.

Abraham Paulos, deputy director of policy and communications for the Black Alliance for Just Immigration, said his organization provides financial resources, food and clothing to help immigrants overcome the challenges they face in the U.S.

“We fight for two things: racial justice and migrant rights,” Paulos told NBC News. “We fight for Black people.”
Paulos, who migrated to the U.S. with his family as a child in the 1980s after he was born in Sudan, said the criminal justice system creates a huge hurdle for Black immigrants.

“I’ve had cousins that have gotten deported,” he said. “One cousin just got out of a detention center.”
Although a large amount of Africans migrate to the U.S., the Caribbean is still the most common region of birth for Black immigrants, Pew concludes. Jamaica and Haiti are identified as the two largest countries of origin.

Good. Black Immigrant seem to be more well adjusted than hood niggas.
First generation maybe. They're still kind of retarded when it comes to shit like automatic doors but I can forgive them on that. It's their kids that meld into hood nigga culture.

If I had to pick one over the other though I'd live in a neighborhood of African Africans any day.

Africans aren’t black, they’re African and that’s why they’re more desirable than hoods. I worked with several African immigrants in college on group projects and have only had good experiences. Many of them studied abroad so they could return to their homes with valuable skills and did more than pull their own weight during projects. The key difference between blacks and Africans is that Africans actually like where they immigrated to and can see how good the US can be despite the country’s big flaws and they pull themselves into the middle class.

Black is retardly american view of ethnicity and they’re projecting it onto an entire continent

They don't meld into it-- they take on superficial features, but they're still very much middle to upper class, usually.
First generation Americans tend to be some of the best Americans you can find. I'm okay with this.
You should still be careful, depending on what your policy aims are. They vote Democrat all the same, and they do so while usually having less of a grasp on American politics and culture. They're also more often well-to-do so they don't often see or connect the consequences of borderline mindlessly voting blue.

I think there is going to be tension between African blacks and American blacks. First reason is American blacks tend to dislike any immigrant group,. Second African blacks tend to hold onto their ethic label more then becoming part of the larger black population for example African immigrants are referred to their ethnic group such as Ethiopians and viewed as such. While American blacks are their own ethnic group with history and culture.. I seen many American blacks on twitter pointing this out as well, saying if you moved to this country after 1965 immigrations acts, and thus can't be descendent of slaves, you are not African American.

Africans just call them niggers openly. Most don't like being lumped in with them
