The only ARG part of it in the very most loose sense was the YouTube video replies (remember when that was a thing?) from their second channel totheark, that they pretended was real. Also Marble Hornets has aged horribly.
It (and many others) did end in a massive asspull. The longer any series goes on the more I resign myself to the fact it'll either just become longer and longer between updates til they just stop, or the ending is going to be pasted on because they never had a storyline to start with.

How the Blair Witch Project did its marketing was pretty cool, for 1999. All these ARGs are very low quality content that would not hold any interest on their own without a gay easter egg hunt.
Yea the censoring bullshit is really annoying and has turned me off from so many videos. It makes them legit unwatchable. Like you are the one who chose to talk about true crime or horror shit yet you wont fucking say murder, rape, suicide, or even assault etc. Me thinks you kinda signed up for this buddy when you chose the topic. I mean its all about muh add sense and muh money anyway.

Many ARGs these days would be better off as just simple web series. It's incredibly hard to make an ARG (especially these days) where you don't immediately think "Yo this is an ARG", let alone a good one.

I felt a lot better after reading this thread because so many people seemed into Mamax and Plagued Moth but they both gave me a weird vibe so I ignored them. Turns out it's not just me; they are, in fact, obnoxious weirdos.
I actually really enjoyed his Disturbing Parts of the Internet series he used to do. It featured a lot of videos and things I’d never seen before. The channels definitely gone downhill since he stopped the series.
I remember being quite young when Blair Witch came out and seeing a segment on it during the morning show my mum watched before school where they were treating it as found footage/real. Scared the ever loving shit out of me since adults on the news show were giving it credit.
I would love to be proven wrong, though I think the Cloverfield universe did some pretty cool and interesting ARGs however not on the same level.
I agree 110% of everything you say. If I could I'll give you a fair handshake for doing the Lord's work for exposing these grifters just want to sit on their ass all day making water down horror content with more censorship than national TV. I'm hearing rumors that Susan Wojiski (CEO of YouTube) is going to put even more guidelines for the platform and actually glad that that's happening just to get people to start abandoning this corporate gulag of a site and move to somewhere like Bitchute or Odyssey to do your more riskier content.

People come here for horror content, and you put trigger warnings (like Internet Investigator) and censor out half the vid cause you’re scared you may hurt YouTube’s and viewers feefees. I left by the Blood Over Intent part. Honestly, Eudoxia has been getting on my nerves since that Bianca Devins video he did. That’s just a case that makes my blood boil when people get the info wrong (like he did). Another thing was I saw in the comments of his new vid someone talking about how his Discord is for “younger people”. I think that’s a little fishy. But once a YouTuber sets up a discord server their content goes to shit. Almost always.
As much as I’d like to see YouTube go, I think it would set a bad precedent for future video sites. Eventually redditors and e-celebs will get tired of the censorship cause they can’t talk about their dildo collection anymore and take their bullshit to another site. Like what happened with Tumblr and Twitter.
