Taka Radjiman: can speak English well enough
Hana Macchia: bilingual
Miyu: I've heard her sing in English and say some stuff but she's ID primarily
Layla: can somewhat use English
Bonnivier: can speak English well enough
Derem: can speak English well enough, primarily ID

That's about it, I don't know if past wave 5 they got more bilingual, but everyone else streams exclusively in Indo.

Some middle-class families make an annual Disney trip their big yearly event. She makes a ton of mid-century middlebrow references, probably due to a lot of contact with older family members who had their old records lying around; "labonza" is a 40s slang term, and I don't think "I Want a Hippopotamus For Christmas" was targeted at the Junior League set. Her education seems to have huge gaps in it that she's filled with TV documentaries, so I doubt she went to the tonier schools and almost certainly didn't go to college. She comes across to me as coming from a lower-middle-class background of the sort that gobbled up mid-century Americana back when it was being produced, and who didn't get caught up in the late-20th century rejection of it, hence why she does things like start singing "Davey Crockett," only to get surprised by the 2nd verse, but finishes out the song instead of quitting it immediately. She's a window into a nearly-extinct side of American culture, and that's part of her charm.

Given how well she knows Disney World and the absolute frequency she'd have to visit, she probably lived a much more reasonable distance from the park than Massachusetts. Southern Virgina or North Carolina is close enough I could see twice yearly summer visits not always destroying the bank.

As for everything else, as someone who has only lived in small towns (until very recently) in several states across the entire country, her upbringing is very typical of that. So many towns will be like "we are wholly unique and interesting". No, you aren't. Small towns also tend to have a lot of old time Americana since they all peaked in the 40s and 50s.

Now that JP and EN exists and houses polyglots — the latter of which is not bound by location — they really do feel like the only branches that need to exist. I think what we will see is a much more cohesive Nijisanji moving forward.

I do hope for more unity too, but the language barrier is sadly still gonna be there. A major part of EN doesn't know Japanese, including almost every wave's "top dogs" (Selen from wave 2, Nina from wave 3 [although she does stand out knowing Russian], Mysta/Vox from wave 4), which already separates them from almost the entirety of JP. With just how much shit they have to do as content creators, chances of them actually learning JP is next-to-none (you're not gonna magically learn it from Duolingo, those streams are just there to bait foreigners), and most from JP aren't gonna touch that. Oliver's already at least C1 in English, so him being close with EN was obvious, and Kanae went through with Selen pretty much primarily since she came in touted as the ex-Pred Apex girl. As good as it is for EN/JP to have polyglots (or I guess polyglot in JP's case), that's still not gonna do much about the overall language barrier, which sucks given that Kuzuha streaming with Vox/Mysta could be a major push.

Random thought, but I wonder why they all use Duolingo specifically, and not something like Memrise, Pimsleur, or Busuu. It doesn't look sponsored, and they don't seem too "bland" for stream material unlike Anki.

Never underestimate the lunacy of a hardcore Disney fan. It can be scary. I know a few people who bought condos in Florida just so they could go to Disney World 3-4 times a year, and they live in Massholechusetts

One thing I can say about Gura is that she seems to have an extremely refined sense of what will catch on and become popular. Even as a shitposter her drunk memes spread like crazy.

On top of that, overseas expansion into specific territories just isn't feasible anymore. HoloID is mostly non-ID fans and they're the most 'successful' example by numbers. Kiara isn't a successful Korean V-Tuber because she got a huge influx of KR viewers. It's the same kind of thing. A HoloKR may very well blow NijiKR out of the water, but I still feel EN/JP fans will make up the bulk of their audience so the compartmentalisation becomes unnecessary.

Do you think they will just mix ID/KR talents into the JP waves now? Or continue to have some separation in that respect? That's the only thing I couldn't figure out about the merger. (It would make sense though, someone like Bora probably would've been even more successful as a member of the main branch)

She definitely wasn't a city shark at first, but her house when she was in high school isn't rural either. She lives in a nice looking subdivision. Probably a solid middle to upper middle class life. Also the video below probably shows the very first piece of fanart she had ever received and she actually hung it on her wall and I find that kind of adorable. Anyway, the part that everyone claims is either Mass, NC, Florida, wherever is at 5:20. I'm certain this video has already been archived so I won't bother. Also if you look up brownbeetv on youtube it's the first video that pops up, and it's from a channel that has mostly Sachiowo clips with some nagu thrown in as well. It's kind of interesting hearing young Gura try to flow naturally from thing to thing, but instead she's just kind of awkwardly halting her own conversational flow whenever she loses the thread or gets to the end. Just goes to show everything is a skill, even aimless rambling can be improved.

Bruh, you realize that they don’t NEED to mooch off of her popularity, right? Gigguk and Anime Man are literally the two biggest anitubers, and their podcast pulls in more than $50k a month. Vshojo isn't widely derided by many for no reason. They hired a lot of questionable people (and doubled down on it with veibae) and the only reason they get views on Twitch is because certain companies should have went on the platform as a side gig (like Pikamee is doing) alongside YouTube streams but chose not to - for example Hololive should have trialled it with Coco during the spam issues when YouTube wouldn't do much about it. Vshojo only want lewdtubers that fit in, or else they don't want to work with you.

And let's not forget about all their orbiters who seem to share the same style as vshojo, including the model designs as well. You know, the artgun models that were trash compared to their previous getup. Ironmouse, the only tolerable vshojo member for most people, had a great model before that happened and she now looks like an unoriginal Nyanners clone.

The thing that bothers me the most though is both Hololive and Nijisanji giving them screen time but both of them won't collab together despite it not being an issue with the JP side of things. I'd rather watch Pomu with HoloEN over Nyanners, even if it's a Kiara collab as originally implied before management put a stop to it, thanks.
