Serious answer -- yes, they hate the shit out of them. One step in training a horse to be a good trail riding horse (ie. not a spazbasket that spooks at every little random thing) is a thing called "sacking out" the animal. Part of the exercise is waving a crinkly plastic bag near them and touching them with it, while holding their lead rope and talking to them firmly but calmly. The goal is to teach the horse that not all weird unexpected stuff is SCARY PREDATOR MONSTER, and that if you're not afraid, they should follow your lead and also stay calm. Source -- watched my mom train several horses over the years when I was a kid.

You don't just go riding a load of beasts through a built up area full of humans like that, let alone doing it in such fashion that they trample people.

A directive has gone out. The protesters must be crushed. Don't shoot them. That's bad optics. But trample them underfoot, and answer any questions later with a simple "Well, they just got in the way - they shouldn't have been there to start with".

This is the ultimate act of provocation.

There would be no shame in all the protesters going home now. No shame at all. It's probably best that the least able of them do. It's going to be a war zone in a few more hours or days if they keep up this shock and awe directive.

• Parasitizes the enemy. You should go out of your way to pose as an enemy organization to avoid having your funds seized, to hide your identity, and to get funding from your enemies for doing actions that don't exist or are counter to their interests.
