So to give my personal example. I donated $25, I went to Ottawa on February 8. I have posted on Facebook publicly about this. I've called my MP's office (including yesterday during the police violence. When an elderly veteran got shoved into the snow). I went to my MP's office directly.

My account is still not frozen. Admittedly I had the foresight to drain most of my bank account before this. My Wealthsimple account is intact (haven't checked Questrade) This government wants you to be fearful of it. That's the only way it survives. Don't cower in fear of Trudeau.

Call your MPs. Make your displeasure widely known. Don't let Trudeau hide behind some opinion poll saying "Well most Canadians support fascism! So I'm right!"

I'm of the opinion that police are indispensable as a peacekeeping force and no more than that.

You can be as libertarian as you like, but humans are awful at self-regulating. Throw in a high population density and vices that result from unrestrained liberty and you're pretty fucked if there's nobody to clean it up.

However what we have here is police acting to enforce the will of the government under the guise of keeping the peace (perhaps literally) and that's when things become authoritarian.

Something can be a necessity but that does not make it good, and one should never forget that. Any job where the person involved gets to exercise broad forms of power over another will without fail attract people who like to use that power and should be looked at with suspicion in tolerable times and outright contempt today.
