That's not how salaries work. There's no question of what you "deserve", only what you are offered vs what you are willing to negotiate.
Their whining about pay is part of the negotiation for a higher salary, but in the end I think it's fruitless because even at the international stage the interest in women's soccer just isn't there, and the skill ceiling is too low.
Most olympic level athletes aren't paid that much anyhow. A female co worker competed in the olympics as a female rower, And her salary barely covered travel expenses. 7 decades ago she would have been expected to not recieve any money at all.
Someone had it correct when they pointed out that even the worst male soccer teams are filled with professional athletes, for the women even the best teams treat it as a side gig.
If the female players are to recieve more money you'll have to first wait for female soccer teams to figure out if it's worth it to hire full time professional female soccer players.

Hey, thanks for reminding me about George! I forgot about him after I stopped browsing Twitter on the semi-regular. I still need to look into his history with Comicsgate.
The point of that part in the OP is that George went into histrionics after people on Reddit found those old anti-muslim/gay self-insert comics and melted down through three comics and a self-aggrandizing pity party Twitter thread, all over people making mean comments about him and his political opinions on the internet. One of the biggest things that make George a cow is his fragile ego, and this was a really great display of it.
