Maybe you underestimate how unstable things really are right now and you can't comprehend this. Remember Trudeau could have ended the mandates, pulled a Boris Johnson and saved a fuck ton of face and we could all go back to "normal" eating poutine and making fun of Americans online. Instead Trudeau doubled down on these people being Nazi fringe extremists.
Yeah you can label them all as Nazis but alot of these people still have contacts they're not going to back down and if the Trudeau government tries to make examples out of these people this will only backfire.

This point cannot be overstated enough. Trudeau could've easily solved this problem: he (or another member of his cabinet) could've met with a protestor representative, they could've done the usual word salad bullshit promising to look at what could be lifted and come out with something later on. The ugly truth is that would've been enough to stop all of this in its tracks.

Instead we have what you see before you, a government high on its own supply, willing to plumb the depths of stark despotism for the sake of avoiding backtracking and dealing with difficult situations. Hell Ontario and even Quebec (!) have walked back measures, but the current batch of Liberals and their NDP sycophants are so far up their own asses that they think they can just force through their policies without backlash. It's disgusting, it's deplorable, and it sadly won't change anytime soon.

The thing which gives me some measure of optimism is at least the mask has been permanently dropped; anyone with a working set of eyes knows where our political class lies and the response you can get. Crack down on truckers and conspicuously avoid the eco-terrorists - actual terrorists - in BC? Throw away due process and threaten financial livelihoods for the mere support of a bunch of angry blue collars? The pendulum swing won't be immediate, but it's coming and it won't be pretty.

Personally I'd start watching out for western-focused issues like oil & gas and market access going forward and any federal response. This whole clusterfuck has given serious ammunition to prescient prairie politicians to justify distancing and even outright separating from Canada - especially when opportunistic leftist groups decide to take advantage of denying critical infrastructure.

Since 2020 I've been saying our only protests should be mobile giant caravans of ordinary people, we coordinate time and place and "slow roll" the fuck out of down town areas, and our common flag should be the national flag and the Pirate Flag. By "slow roll" exactly that, the convoy takes up two lanes or however many lanes necessary to slow traffic, then slow down to ten or five miles per hour (don't ask me how many kilometers per hour) and maybe do a giant circuit around important government centers, for about 30 minutes or so honking horns, then leave.
