NYPD can be pigs and if encouraged, often are. But they're also the most professional police force the US has, and given they are the size of a regular Army battalion, that's amazing. They make other PDs look like jumped up Walmart security guards. Look at the SFPD pleading for the public's help in solving cases from the 70s, who nicknamed a homo killer The Diddler, because I guess that goofy Batman show already used the Riddler. Or how they couldn't figure out who the Zodiac was despite mountains of evidence, and a supposedly uncrackable code that a bunch of code spergs solved within months of taking a crack at it in their spare time. So I think you're right and they just don't realize NYC is not representative of the rest of the US, not by a long shot, in good ways and bad.

Winnipeg Alternative Media has their Facebook page that hosts their stream archives open to access without a Zuccount. Here's a local archive in 4 parts of today's stream from right at the very center of the protest in Ottawa. It opens out with a quick burst of tear gas from the cops, and then turns into an extended standoff. Cops also randomly smash up a truck's windows about 10 minutes in because fuck you, that's why, I guess. His commentary isn't very useful, but it has lots of good looks at the police and their gear, and is literally right at the front line. Streamer also briefly drops by to chat with a couple of truckers who're right near the stage and AV tower. I clipped that out as a highlight.



Related, here's a clip where you can see the trucker in the orange high vis with the red and grey beard who hops up in the background to talk to the driver in the truck with the black cab getting the shit beaten out of him by the cops a short time later. Cop is bashing him in the ribs and kidneys with either the end of his baton or a fist, until the other protestors pull him away to safety.

We haven't seen genuine, normal, hardworking people take to the streets yet.

Even these people were making a game out of this and a lot of the protest seems like it was taken up by outsiders who were using it for politics (not that this isn't okay or anything, it just wasn't 100% grassroots).

I haven't been able to catch up yet but I really wanted to ask, how is the GiveSendGo going? It had a lot of momentum but after the bank account scare it seems to have stopped. :( After GFM held the money that had been donated for 10 days I was expecting money to start pouring in on GSG about now, but that's not the case.

Also I am not sure if this is viable but I was wondering if the surplus money could be used to help pay for the repairs of the truckers that had their vehicles trashed by the police and counter-protestors, as well as for the medical aid for those attending that were attacked by the cops. Would that be a possibility? I remember the truckers saying they had enough money for a year of the convoy.

Something I noticed is that the Freedom Convoy GSG is blacklisted on Google. It shows up fine on DuckDuckGo.
