I’m sure it’s a smaller group of men that do it but that group of men tend to be very out there and loud about being creeps. Starting a gender affirmation program in conservative Indiana five years ago was certainly interesting. However, most staff quickly fell in love with taking care of the transgender community. It is heartwarming to see people open their minds and become more accepting.

Are you a psychologist? Have you taken the time to sit them down and explain the pros and cons of this? Is there any legitimate way that what they want may be negatively psychologically involved and that if they DO go through with it that they be informed beforehand that the suicide rate for transgendered people is through the roof? Working with transgender and non-binary individuals is the most meaningful and gratifying work I have ever done.

To that end, we take advantage of several social media platforms (especially Tik Tok) to educate both our patients and the public. In addition, have a patient guide to transition “Affirmed” being published this fall.

Yes, direct them to one of the very harmful platforms responsible for spreading the idea that there is nothing wrong with them and EVERYTHING wrong with common sense.
