Ironic to think the only reason they'll more or less let Chris go free (but not Scot Free) is the simple and practical reasons. Ergo it's not worth the money or trouble to keep Chris incarcerated.

Basically Chris is facing two futures. One where they work out a way to keep him relatively out of trouble (other than occasional chimpout) and he spends the rest of his life in tard housing, content that he has no responsibilities and stays relatively docile. This is cheaper. This is totally realistic since he has been mostly good recently other than fucking Barb.

Or if he is too defiant to do that, they throw in him prison for as long as possible since that's the only way they can get rid of him long-term against his will.

Honestly the only functional difference between the more managed level of tard home and low risk tard prison is the height of the fence around it and who pays for it. I suspect the Virginia REALLY prefers that Chris' tugboat pays for housing him instead of their own prison budget.
