Our shitlibs here are virtually no different than American shitlibs just like our media and culture is mostly American now. They try to do the same hysteria all of the time about how there are secret Nazis, Klansmen and white supremacists around every corner, etc. Up here there's been a huge increase in pushing black people to the forefront of everything despite that population being smaller than a few different Asian ones here, etc. Without getting too off topic, but you know that line about "If aliens just watched TV in the US they'd think that half of the country was black?" It's increasingly like that up here despite being ~3% of the population. The point I'm making is that if it's the current trend in America, give it about as long as it takes for a Twitter trend to get going viral and it'll be all the rage here too just with more smugness and less mainstream pushback.

It's all just our mentally ill people desperately wishing that they could be of the American variety. It's pushed that the Confederate flag is just a symbol of white supremacy by a lot of people in the States, and thus a lot of people here think the same. You should never underestimate just how much American cultural influence there is in Canada. I'd be willing to bet that the average Canadian couldn't name more than three current premiers (those are like our governors) here but could go on all day about American politics (informed by the CBC and Facebook.)

This post summed up my thoughts exactly. They always say people have the right to protest, but in actuality you don't. It's not that the government doesn't want you to protest, it's that the government doesn't want you to protest.

Like, you and a few dozen people can go to the local park with picket signs and stuff, that's fine because you're not getting in society's way and people can ignore you. The second you get an actual large amount of people together, an amount that actually can flood a street, that's when the government demands it stomped out. Even if you're crowd is peaceful, having so many people trying to change things just pisses the government off because it goes against the status quo. The second the government actually has a protest of decent size, they do everything they can to get rid of it. There is no real protesting, just illusion of choice.

When you want to go dark, you need completely isolated environment, preferably without connection to wide clear net, strictly end end encrypted connecting two peers and have middle men to relay material for you when you live in oppressive shitholes like Canada where Trudeau is about to clamp down on the internet to create more brainwashed bugmen. Protest are notorious for being messy, like I went to Oakland during one one of he Ocuppy days and it was a mess. That's part of living in a society where we have to do allow this shit
