To be fair I looked at the page for that 6 hour Nerd doc and in the comments the guy who made it said that it's actually several different videos combined into one. I can't speak for its quality because I didn't watch it but he does seem to at least acknowledge that the length could be seen as overkill.
That makes more sense. Still wouldn't have shocked me if it was not that, and a guy doing a serious 6 hour video. Ever since lasagna cat did that one joke video where they discussed the pipe strip for over an hour I swear everyone has been trying to one up it by making spergy 3+ hour videos about whatever. Except they are not doing it as a joke.

True enough. At the beginning the guy says upfront that the video proper begins around 4 minutes or so and the description congratulates anyone who takes enough time to watch the whole thing, so at least he's acknowledging the issue from the start. God knows I've bitched about James and AVGN for as long as that video (sometimes on the Truth reddit, lovingly sticking it to Justin right to his disgusting fucking "face"), just never for that long at once. So I give the guy a bit of credit for saying "I know it's long, but it wasn't made in a single sitting".

New James featuring a Raid: Garbage Legends ad.
I get it, YouTubers have to make money via sponsors and shit, but at least put some fucking life in your sponsor ad because it's so lifeless as if James doesn't even want to do it. Even at least the knife one from the "Ghostbusters: Afterlife" one had something charming to it. I'm even surprised the Raid sponsor actually looked at the lifeless ad and went "Yeah, this is good enough, here's your paycheck".

As for the video itself, guess this is what we're gonna get for the rest of the year: Videos that are just gonna be James telling us what he watched and gave his opinions/plot summaries about it. At worst it'll be mediocre and boring, but at the same time it's just not good and lackluster just to get some sponsor money. It's not even hard to make videos like these and if you are popular on YouTube on paper you can do it probably for the rest of your life: Just watch any of your favorite shows, write your opinions about it in a script, have a green screen at the back, boom you're done.

Unfortunately given how Cinemassacre last year was mostly terrible given the really lackluster AVGN episodes in general (apart from at least one), a boring podcast nobody would watch, the plagiarism controversy for Monster Madness, Rex Viper bullshit, and various other crap going on (e.g. the VR video)...... I think the Cinemassacre crew saw how terrible last year was in terms of feedback and decided to play it safe which even though it's not a bad way going forward, it's just rather disappointing. I don't think anyone wants to see the dumb podcast returning (unless you just want to see the fanmade highlights), more poorly made Rex Viper songs (unless you just want to see how low they would go further), or seeing the slobs from Screenwave/Hack The Movies in the videos (unless you just want to see how much more they would embarrass themselves), etc. either, but at the same time given how all we wanted is just James making videos based on what he prefers and if this is what we get, I can't completely blame him but at the same time I just feel a bit disappointed and shrug my shoulders and move on.

This. I have no problem with YouTubers getting sponsors, it's literally the easiest money they'll ever make, but at least make it fun for fuck sakes. Someone like Internet Historian gets Raid sponsors but actually puts a lot of effort into them and makes it entertaining, but whenever I see a YouTuber just blatantly do a single take reading in the most boring, monotone voice and low energy it annoys the shit out of me. A company is giving you thousands for this, at least put the work in.

ditto. also feel the same when podcasters do it all serious/monotone. my favorite podcasters have fun with their ad reads

Apparently James said an “F Word” in the Cobra Kai review, when talking about “Eagle Fang”

Of course, no time to reshoot, and not gonna have the balls to reprimand Justin/Kieran for sabotaging the script.

don't think this was posted...but stolen from the igsucks blog...someone with too much time did a 6 hour breakdown of the rise and fall of the avgn

who the hell would watch this? it's like titanic and end game combined, but stupider and more boring
I got drunk and watched all of this. It was a monumental (and sobering) waste of time. The entire thing could have been condensed into 2-3 hours if the dude would have gotten rid of or trimmed the AVGN clips. They look log dog shit. They all have 20 filters applied to them and have been pitched down. Everyone knows the AVGN theme, why is it necessary to play a weird modified version of it? Why does he need to play the entire intros of some classic Nerd episodes? It’s like this dude treated this video like those tards who pad essays out with tons of unnecessary words, like I’m doing right now. Brevity is good.

The first half of this video is pretty dumb and just goes over what the creator thinks are good Nerd episodes. Spoiler: he thinks the Bugs Bunny episodes with Mike Matei are hilarious, so his opinions are immediately invalidated.

The latter half of the film covers the blunders of the movie which was pretty informative, and then introduction of Screenwave. Like, I had no idea that he used his meager 350,000 USD budget earned from Indiegogo to actually film on location in LA. What was he thinking? If you need to watch this video for whatever reason, start it at around the 3 hour mark where he talks about the movie and skim through it.

Rise and Fall is a weird name for something that scarcely discusses a rise or a fall. Anyway, I’d only recommend this video in the event that you’re trying to sober yourself up, or purposely want to try to get an epileptic seizure.

First, god bless you ya insane bastard.

My only guess to why they applied every filter they could was to avoid James doing a DMCA takedown. Normally I would be fine with this, but as far as I know James and screenwave don't really send takedown notices like other people with threads here do so it's retarded.

The first fifteen minutes or so explains why he’s even bothering to make the video and briefly goes over his history with Screenwave. Apparently, they are beginning to strike against those with dissenting opinions. Not sure if this has anything to do with the 2021 room tour video and the fact that it now seems like James is aware of the criticism.

Anyway, you’re absolutely correct in the reasoning there are egregious numbers of filters overlaying the clips of James.

Since we are at page 200 i want to bring this back.

Smosh's (yes, i know) celebration cake after a big milestone back in like 2013

And James' celebration cake after a big milestone some months ago.

It's been some time now and i still can't believe how half assed everything around episode 200 was, especially this cake that James' own wife got for him. It's like she wanted to spend as little money and time as possible buying something for her husband's career milestone... she must be deeply in love with him... right?

thought it was some what known james was a moron who insisted on filming in LA....with the gratuitous use of green screen, you'd think he would just green screen LA.

James should have filmed in Georgia, especially if he was going for “nostalgia”.

Stranger Things is filmed there, and even Cobra Kai.

It would have been a lot closer, and April wouldn’t have melted so hard.
2 Netflix shows? Too new for James, no time to watch. You got those on VHS? I think that's the only way to guarantee he will watch them.

You really get the feeling James would have been better off shooting a low budget, Wayne's World inspired movie in which the Nerd tries to prove the landfill theory, gets his hands on E.T., and doesn't know what to do for the review because he -gasp- found out it wasn't that bad. But that would mean putting in effort into the script which he didn't have time for, and we don't want him to suffer now, do we?

It would have been really cool had he used his weight as the nerd to see if he could track down anybody involved in the making of ET and doing an interview. Or if he can't track down anyone related to ET maybe see if he can find people who worked for Atari during that period and ask what it was like to work for them at that time. Go into detail how a shit load if fuck is made.

Do something different and informative. The name has weight especially years ago, someone would be willing to talk to him.

Where's our supermarket cake?
Have Day cake 6d4d955.jpg

honestly though, that picture of James smiling while holding up that pitiful cake is the epitome of pathetic celebrations, like I really can't find a sadder example of a cake that isn't intentionally supposed to look silly. His cake is like, the perfect meme for when you're pressed into celebrating something you absolutely do not give a shit about, or have contempt for
