I find it really hard to believe Canadian politicians are so in bed with the Democrats that they were willing to potentially kamikaze their own careers for the sake of the American midterm elections.

It makes sense if you consider Canada and indeed all of NATO to be basically Washington's "Western Bloc" similar to what the USSR had. A country like the UK for example may be kind of like Hungary and have some degree of independence, but countries like Australia and Canada are more like Romania or East Germany where they jump when Washington/Moscow says "how high"

I don't necessarily agree that the world bends at Washington's will, but I wouldn't be surprised. I think the Canadian Liberals want is their own January 6th so they can implement an insurrection narrative to crush dissent. Unlike even Biden and Obama, Trudeau has not once paid lip service to protecting freedoms as Prime Minister. Every speech he has ever given he states is "On behalf of Canada, or Canadians" and basically believes his 33% or so plurality is the "People's Will".
