Bullshit. US immigration in the 1800's was huge. The Know-Nothings existed for a reason, y'know.

One thing that has been consistent throughout the existence of the country is this issue. Just the definitions of the nativist and immigrant has changed. When convenient they will just change it again. Too many people have too much invested in advocating for either side to declare it to be ever over.

Look up the Shooting and Crying genre, it's literally all leftist Israeli soldiers absolving themselves through writing books/making movies about the atrocities they committed. It's a method of healing and I guarantee you the same thing will happen with the canadian police in a few years.

So, I'd been more than mildly concerned for a Canadian friend of mine who went to protest in Ottawa. I'd lost contact with him for over a week up through the crackdown. Thankfully, it turns out he's alright, but I thought I'd share a redacted/anon firsthand testimonial here for you guys:

Apparently, his friend's mother is dealing with a frozen bank account (donated to the cause). In the struggle to get it back, they're now learning that the freeze might be fucking permanent. Yeah.
