You like to think the local police officer in a rural district is still the same guy or gal today that they were three weeks ago. Can't speak for cities, but in small rural towns/rural areas the police officer is often a respected and important member of the community. May still be the case in some areas. Hard to despise someone who may have saved your life, or who cried alongside you when a loved one died in an auto accident.

There's some illegal shit, most of which is just blocking traffic and honking a lot. I can definitely see shutting it down.

But some shit is too far. They're seizing some of their trucks. While you shouldn't use property you need to make your living to commit crimes with, even minor ones, because the government can then seize it, losing your entire livelihood for just being annoying is too harsh.

Blocking traffic and noise pollution is definitely assholery of some sort but it isn't "terrorism" or that term has become completely meaningless. Protests are nearly never congenial. And this kind of jackboots shit is what gets you actual terrorism down the road, sort of like the Waco and Randy Weaver chickens came home to roost eventually.

Have no idea. Just going from gut feelings. Didn't see the Canadian national level of anger to be as high as in the USA. They seemed to put up with oppressive measures against the Chinese Flu for quite some time without major pushback.

The Canadian national level of anger is high and growing, likely approaching American levels. If there's some sort of peaceful redress of some grievances, things can cool down. But right now you have a lot of bugpeople lording it over the protesters. These bugpeople are sowing the seeds of lasting anger and bitterness, if not downright hate. The longer this thing goes, the longer these seeds have to grow and strangle civil discourse within Canadian society. Some will see no other way to express themselves except direct action.
