General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

We need some Garth Brooks and George Straight up in this.

Some greats there, but not sure if their voices would fit with a male, maybe some of the songs/ballads they could pull off. I was thinking more like Alison Kraus, Deana Carter, Mindy McCready, etc. Oh and Mumei has already done some Dixie Chicks which works well for her. And not quite country, but Mumei has a great voice for doing Stevie Nicks/Fleetwood Mac stuff too.

Welcome to hell little man.

I don't mind the voice, but I really don't like be cockteased while trying to watch shit for entertainment and relaxation. Its horribly distracting.

Holy shit it's a damn pokemon.

Anyway thats my 2 cents for today. I shall return to wasting away.

And what a cute pokemon it is. The emotes are adorable too.
Almost as cute as these masterpieces.
Deliciously cursed.

Maybe unpopular opinion but I don't love the designs tbh. I don't know if they're trying to make them reminiscent of the previous NijiEn guys because all except the blue guy look colorpicked off of Luxiem, especially the one with highlight yellow hair and purple eyes which is Luca's general color scheme. Rocker and cyborg guys look interesting, but the rest are meh for me. Their designs aren't very distinct and purple+yellow look like recolors of eachother.

I agree, I actually like the techwear look but it's not done as well here as in something like Arknights or Axia Krone from the latest JP wave. TBH I think the NijiEN guys have been a bit weak design-wise in general, the only designs I quite like are Vox and Ike. For Noctys I like Uki and Yugo (purple and dark blue) the most design-wise but they definitely aren't standout designs.

Honestly my only gripe with this is that they debuted a bit too soon. To put in perspective at least; Obsydia debuted really quickly after Lazulight, However, Obsydia was hinted at in their debut art with the glitchy pictures of Selen, Petra and Rosemi. So Obsydia we kind of knew ahead of time due to speculation and it also was for a total of 6 girls, 3 in each wave which is more palatable. Luxiem debuted with a roster of 5 which is what some would consider to be a "full roster" in terms of vtubing. That's all good and they (still) had/ve a ton of hype behind them. Noctyx is another group of 5 males which at this point even as a Nijisanji fan is bloating the roster of EN vtubers up a lot. Luxiem did really well so it makes sense to follow up with more males but I honestly didn't think it'd be this soon lol. Really I'm just employing my general Nijisanji mantra now and that's to follow who I like enough to actively follow (Pomu, Rosemi, Selen, Reimu, Luca) and just kind of half-follow everyone else maybe occasionally.
Kind of a tangent here in relation to this. Nijisanji has kind of proven with Luxiem there is a (growing) audience for male vtubers and that is being felt by Cover/Hololive (see the past whatever hundred pages ago where people were speculating on StarsEN) and smaller orgs like Tsunderia (which already has some males) and Phase Connect (Fishman went from "no males" to "maybe some males" in the Tsunderia interview he did). I just really hope that at least the smaller orgs understand that Nijisanji's males thrive the most from the freedom of being able to consistently have co-ed interactions/collabs rather than being like Holostars with rarely any interaction with the majority of their female peers.

Personally I really like the phantom thief's design, it feels like it nails that Arknights-like techwear look. The DJ looks a little less along my interests but he's still alright, and the cyborg just looks like Dante, not like that's a bad look. No idea what happened with the officer and purple, for some reason their designs honestly just look awful. I don't know if it's the artstyle or something, but they genuinely look like a bootleg version of Lauren and Axia.

Midnight here so it's time for some Lo-fi rap. Your Mori Lo-fi version dropped.

Mmm... vocals on these are a little too full for a "lo-fi album". Was expecting something more in the vein of the one below by dj-Jo:

It'll have it's fans, I guess, just not really what I'd personally consider "lo-fi".

People are saying this Branch was meant to be partners with Luxiem akin to Lazulight and Obsydia

LUX-iem = Light
NOCT-yx = Night/Dark

They don't have the glitchy art easter egg like Obysdia did, but whatever I guess

Adding onto this, he just mentioned it again in his currently ongoing stream.

I know he's doing a thing here but he's a married father who deep-throated a microphone while cross-dressing for superchats as a "bet". Regardless of what he does at any point into eternity, that should never be glossed over or forgotten.

Doesn't matter if he's funny or not, good or not, successful or not--he sucked off a microphone while cross-dressing for money as a bet, and he did this as a middle-aged married father who supposedly is Christian while wearing candy-colored programmer socks and girls' short-shorts.

I would rather be an autistic playing as an anime character while using a voice modulator. Thankfully I'm neither but you know what I mean.

I've never been into Calli's music but I can appreciate someone trying to use a popular vehicle to get their actual passion out there. It's better than trying to huck your novels through an OnlyFans.

I've seen this a couple times in different places but I literally only hear "See you around, I guess, peace"

Pretty sure that's "see you 'round, I guess"

She was saying "I guess" a lot anyway to be more passive and aloof.

It's slurred due to the accent drawl and pitch shift so there is no "d" on "around", leaving the "n" to roll into the quick "I guess" making n-igess.
Well sure, if you want to believe the boring old TRUTH *gag*.

(I knew she said "I guess", but the thought of Kronii casually saying "see you around niggas" is too appealing.)

Regarding NijiMEN 2, I like that their names are not as on-the-nose as Luxiem's. Agreed with most posts about their designs not standing out. When people here refer to them by their archetype ("demon", "cyborg", "psychic") I have to look closely to figure out who they're referring to, and I can only get "cyborg" from those three examples.

In other news I recognise 0 voices outright. I might be tone deaf but does Yugo sound like a female roommate to anyone else?
That's a woman with a voice changer dumb fujos

Low-effort joke aside, I hear it too. The voice filtering or whatever it is that they all have is the strongest on him; I had to listen to his line two or three times to hear "Yo - how you doin'?" The delivery also contributes but I can't describe it exactly.

Speaking of the rabbit, clock me late but I just came across this vid
Thoughts?
I respect this massively.

It's pretty easy and common for people to form a fanbase and just get swept up in it. Not only exploiting them for money (consciously or unconsciously), but also not thinking about the implications of fuelling these parasocial relationships that end up preying upon people who are lonely, in a bad place, or otherwise vulnerable to falling into a toxic parasocial relationship. A lot of even rather likeable personalities unknowingly push these parasocial relationships. So Pippa being able to identify this, even when there's nobody to teach you this stuff, is very good.

She clearly knows what her platform means, and how others view her and can view her. And she's trying to make sure she uses it properly, ensuring that the relationship between her and her fans remains a mutually beneficial one.
