I sometimes comeback to this, this was back then when the podcast was already on decline but is soooo much better than what castle super beast has ever offered . now that the beastcast is death will they steal the name tho?

As the resident Liam defender i will defend Liam once more and say that the real begining of the end(at least in terms of the podcast) came when he left for obvious reason like how the podcast became longer in average even when they had less people but mostly because out of all them he was the one who knew more about the gaming industry .... and the one that actually played games

I'd argue Mat was the one who knew more about the industry and tried out the most games but liam was close second.

Liam got a lot of hate back then for being a contrarian but really, he was a "necessary evil" to keep everyone in check. He was treated as the "crazy weeb" of the group but he was the only one with some actual self awareness about the way he consumes and criticizes media. Without him the podcast was either full wank or full cynicism and so does CSB.

Liam's involvement marked the decline of the channel. When he became a full time member and later when he became the player on like 80% of the games were the two big, early benchmarks of the decline.

Are you sure? Liam first appeared at the end* of 2012 on metroid fusion and was more than an "official member" when the podcast started by mid~ 2013 when they were still playing deadly premonition.

Not gonna argue anything but i just find funny and confusing when i see people say "Liam's introduction killed the channel" when he got in the channel very early on the alleged "golden age" of SBFP.

I'd say Woolie's introduction was when things started going downhill, but it started even before that: everything after Kirby is trash.

you'd figure at that point he'd get a guide out or watch a walkthrough
You don't know Woolie. Hard games are his thing. Guides would just spoil him. Success would just rush him.

The Golden era ended during the Deadly Premonition playthrough, the vibe literally changed completely towards the end. Their sub growth started to slow around this point as well, they were well on their way to a million subs before then.

that is way too soon for the Golden Age to end, when I think of Deadly Premonition I think of way early in their careers. DP was 2013, the Golden Age was like 1-2 years after that. From what their wiki states Golden Age was 2015, and that had Revelations 2, Ride to Hell, Silent Hill 2, Until Dawn, RE3, with hard misses like Ultra Despair GIrls.

Liam asking how Matt’s limit on black friends is “one three-fifths a person!?” got a hug from Woolie.
perhaps it was a bear hug

You can practically hear Matt and Woolie's facial expressions when he says 'Cloud Niggers'.
I really wonder why they didn't just cut that audio from the episode. I didn't know that was the context where he used the hard r. There really were hundreds of better scenarios. Just sounds like a really forced joke when you've got furries and scalies.

They were doing a running joke about how the different Dinosaur tribes hated each other. So when in the game they meet a Pterodactyl and Tricky their dinosaur companion start talking about how much he hated the Pterodactyl tribe. So Woolie and Liam made the Cloud Nigger joke.

On that Sifu video someone said "It's funny watching Max and Woolie, 2 fighting game aficionados make their way through this. Max figures out the systems relatively quickly and develops useful strategies and Woolie... Woolie will figure it out."

For a moment let's ignore the fact that Woolie is even in the conversation when comparing to Max, but reflect that Max, a guy who's (I think?) older than Woolie and usually comes around to things pretty quickly. I can't think of a single time Max would complain or make excuses that Black DSP/Woolie does, and I think that leads to a healthier fanbase that has better discussions.

Am I thinking too much on that last one or..?

Last night Max was streaming the new King of Fighters and was mostly getting his ass whooped. He never really complained, kept the energy up and seemed to be having a good time learning the game on stream. He had around 10k viewers.

Must be doing SOMETHING right.

Is it just me or is Pat's cringe streaming voice persona where literally everything he says is in an sarcastic tone like he's too embarrassed about and hates his streaming profession and his chat goblins really annoying, that combined with his gay tumblr-ese parlance is grating as all hell. Like I get that streaming is the definitive lol cow "profession" but holy shit tone it down.

Woolie getting called out as fake fighting game fan???

Max can get salty but he has a dedicated hatedom that considers him the worst thing to ever happen to the FGC so he fakes reactions to not get called out. Max once got stomped in GG Xrd so bad he deleted the video and stopped playing the game entirely so people still meme him as a fake baiken/GG fan to this day. Also: chinger chagger nigger dagger.

What i mean is, Max knows how to grow his channel. He hides his powerlevel, he plays the huge AAA games as soon as they release, he tries to play good cause he the opposite upsets people, he only interacts with chat in positive ways that makes him look good, his youtube videos are heavily edited to appeal to normies, etc..

Sure people can call Max a sellout but at the end of the day max's personality and content are good enough to earn that sucess. Woolie is kinda of a failure for the opposite reasons, low charisma, no quality control, too much waste of time, barely any fandom interaction, zero production values, lacks normie appeal, etc..

Podcast is out today, not much worth listening to except at the end where Pat goes full retard, and frames people not wanting immortality as old people who are actually afraid of dying and they want the young people to suffer what they are suffering because of it.

People would give Woolie a lot less shit if he was willing to admit fault and make a genuine effort to break from his self-defeating patterns. Being incompetent and being arrogant are something that most people can't look past.

Max honestly carries the FGC content scene, dudes gotten so many zoomers to atleast be aware of fighting games and keep it relevant. And even if I find him very cringe and annoying to watch when he's trying to put up a show he keeps it very real in his more serious videos on fighting game topics. Respect for the dood.

Yeah, there's that too. He's never really come across as someone who claims to be any form of expert, and when there are things he doesn't know he will outright be upfront on it. There's no false sense of 'Max Pride' when he talks, but with Woolie you can certainly get that on every other conversation or even the podcast.

CSB 155, reset the clock on Pat sucking Jim Sterling's cock.

also in the beginning of the episode Woolie talks about that one chinese MMA dude disproving fake martial arts and I was really confused as to why he was telling that story, when there is a more in depth video on the subject from EyepatchWolf that you can watch.
does Woolie not know about Eyepatch's video?
