Street Fighter 6 + Darkstalkers News! - *Morrigan laugh*

They're turning into Japthesda
Not counting re-releases, we have:
Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite (2017)
Street Fighter V (2016)
Street Fighter X Tekken (2012)
Marvel vs Capcom 3 (2011)

Okay, so maybe 11 years since we had a release that wasn't a trashfire?

It's not that the Street Fighter X Tekken release was a disaster, it is that the game itself was fundamentally hampered and flawed.
MvCI is more of a case of disney getting to set the terms and the game's content suffering because of it.

Fucking lol'd:

I don't think Capcom is putting any effort with this one, V proved that fighting whales will take anything up the ass as long as they received their precious tournament money.
I KNEW that logo looked familiar!

Was it disney's idea to go for a more "realistic" artstyle over mvc3's, because that's mahvel Infinite's second biggest problem right behind the roster

Jesus. Just looking at that logo compared to the logo of every previous SF tells you everything about how fucking bad this is gonna be. You don't ever have to look at gameplay and you will probably be vindicated on this being a fucking dumpster fire. I could recreate that logo, probably better looking too, in MS Paint in 5 minutes, that is beyond fucking lazy.

Really, when was the last fighting game Capcom has made that wasn't a disaster on launch?
They're turning into Japthesda
Capcom has always been weirdly inconsistent when it comes to the fighting games and everything else, it's like you're talking about two totally separate entities.

My personal favorite era of the company is from Devil May Cry in 2001 to Dead Rising in 2006, but the fighting games were basically dead during that time, I love the classic 2D fighters, but by the time Resident Evil was really taking off in the late 90s the 2D fighters were in their sunset days, but during the peak days of the fighters, 1991-1997, there was very little else going on other than the start of Resident Evil.

Then in the late 2000s and early 2010s Resident Evil and Devil May Cry went to shit, but the fighters had something of a renaissance with Street Fighter IV and Marvel vs Capcom 3.

So see, the health of one thing is not necessarily the health of the other, starting with RE7 Capcom's made a real comeback these last 5 years, Street Fighter V dropped in 2016, same year as Dead Rising 4, when things were still kind of wonky for the company, but it's gotten much better than it was with RE2 Remake so far being the peak (and RE8 not far behind), I like to think Street Fighter 6 will also ride this wave but if it does disappoint I wouldn't necessary say that spells doom for Capcom as a whole.

SNK vs Capcom is legit one of my all-time favorite fighting games (the other 2D fighters I really hold in high regard are SFIII: Third Strike and Garou: Mark of the Wolves so SNK vs Capcom hits a sweet spot for both) but in general they kind of dropped off after the Dreamcast failed.

The crossovers gave it a shot in the arm, but if you're talking just Capcom's own games Third Strike was basically the last hurrah for the 2D era, wasn't it?

What's interesting is how the peak of a Capcom graphical style is also it's end, Street Fighter 3, Darkstalkers 3 and Street Fighter Alpha 3 were the peak of their all pixel art days, but also the end, much like how REmake and RE0 were the peak of their pre-rendered background days, but also the final games in that style before the switch to full 3D.

Capcom tried to pull the old "Copy'n'Paste" job they're widely known for when they worked on their 2D fighters back in the day. Originally the models in MVC:I were from MVC3, which is why Chun-Li had that infamous fugly looking face (MVC3 used MT-Framework while MVC:I used Unreal). The budget Capcom had was little... like "cheap as shit" little, which is why they did that in the first place, not to mention they were funding most of it, so it wasn't like they had help like they did with SFV with Sony giving them a budget for that. So only the new fighters got the "better" treatment. When they brought it up to the higher ups, they were denied as the higher-ups considered it a "non-issue"

You guys are being really pessimistic for no reason imo. Sure crapcom loves to fuck up for funsies but they really turned things around on SFV (and tbh looking back I think they could've for MvC:I too, if they had the time/resources but it was probably let one sink and the other swim), and it seems like they learned a lot of lessons over time. The direction of the game has only improved after an admittedly rocky start, and I think they have the attitude and knowledge now to knock it out of the park with 6. The stuff about the logo is pretty funny tho

They made great strides in recent years, they are far better now than they were a decade ago.

Maybe the logo was something whipped up quickly as a placeholder while they work on something better? At any rate it's not like it's something they couldn't fix.

How anyone can say this with a straight face is beyond me.

SFV was so undercooked when it was first released, even people who participated in the live beta told Capcom to stick this shit back in the oven and don't come back until it was COMPLETELY cooked, and they STILL didn't listen to their fans.
  • Piss poor "story mode" for each character that boils down to 3 matches (if that) with some poorly drawn cutscenes.
  • The cinematic story "A Shadow falls" completely ruins what could have been a perfect re-union between Guile and Charlie (excuse me, NASH), among other things
  • Models look fucking attrocious. Banana hair aside, the models are just unappealing.
  • DLC... DLC fucking EVERYWHERE. SFV being treated like a typical current year AAA title
  • logos on fucking clothing
  • eSports reetardation, censoring asses and clothing because we can't have women be sexy and shit.
  • Character's iconic moves being changed for no fucking reason (Claw loosing his charge motions unless it's on his specific stage that's also DLC)
  • You can just mash like a rabid monkey on the controller and you'll get whatever move you wanted out of it (see Akuma's Shun Goku Satsu)
And that's just off the top of my head. SFV was a big I.O.U. that was poorly handled, executed worse, and is considered a fucking joke, only beloved by tourneyfags. Calling a shit game "better as it aged" is the same excuse people fucking give to Third Strike all because a bunch of nips did some "cool shit" in tourneys even though thats all they ever fucking do in any tourney. It's not deep, it's not misunderstood, it's fucking garbage, period!

I liked it when they released a new version of SFV just because they added an arcade mode, the most laughably cheap game mode for content ever in fighting games.

That wasn't embarrassing at all.

Lol calm down. The game is fun and that's what matters, no ones gonna force you to play it. It sounds like you have a bigger problem with the state of competitive eSports and not V. People who play V and have been playing V enjoy the game and see the improvement lol

Also anyone who thinks V's models looks ugly and likes 4's is blind

Im most interested to see what the replacement for the V system will be tbh, and how looks v triggers relate to them

The logo thing COULD be a coincidence but I expect them to be talking about how it was just a quickly slapped together placeholder in the near future with the "real" logo to be shown off at the next announcement (which will probably be E3)

To save you guys time.

Darkstalkers will be censored. SF6 will be globohomo approved.
They're definitely not going to censor the original Darkstalkers games, why would you think that?

All the other recent collections of arcade games have been untouched.

V at least gave us one of the sexiest Cammys yet, loved how her outfit was the classic green color combined with more exposure of her Alpha 3 outfit, it was the best of both worlds and way sexier than her IV incarnation.

R.Mika was also really hot, for me eye candy is one of the main appeals of the genre, but V's graphics were overall definitely inconsistent to say the least.

The whole thing was clearly a pretty early work in progress teaser, so I see no reason to assume the logo is definitely final.

The players for Darkstalkers are going to require censoring because they're going to include that godawful challenge mode for each character.

Hope you can pull off a 90 hit combo in 4.5 seconds.

True some of them really pop off and some of them are gross. In particularly Banana Hair Ken and French Fry Hair Alex are pretty gross. But overall the quality of animation and such is way better

I'm going to give a weird take. What if this new Street Fighter is a "changing of the guard" of sorts and this is the last game most of the old school SF2 characters are in? The trailer gives off a "Old vs New Generation" vibe. While it'd probably be company suicide if Ryu,Ken and Chunners were gone permanently in SF7. I wouldn't be surprised if Capcom wanted to do a refresh.
