One thing I wonder is how long this whole bully operations has been going on. It feels like its only been going on the past few years from social media posts, yet I feel like the breeders of these frogs have been doing it FAR longer, perhaps since the 2000s.

I remember in the early 2000s everyone wanted the biggest dog with the biggest head.it really wasn’t until probably around 2010 that the freaky mutant look became a thing and people started adding tons of Bulldog to them. it’s just snowballed from there.

Also there are always pits and non-freakshow pit mixes at the shelters that are in need of a home. You don't even have to be a childless hag on instagram to adopt them. You might never know men and families own dogs just from watching the dead egg clout chasers on channels like the Dodo. I have a feeling those videos are eugenics propaganda for women to have rescue pets instead of children.

I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the reason behind those videos. There is nothing wrong with taking in disabled or hospice care pets but the whole clout chasing is ridiculous.

I was trying to find an x-ray image or skeleton of one of those toadline bullies for the sake of curiosity/shock value (I couldn't find anything and if anyone can deliver that would be great), but I find it interesting that a lot of social media posts and articles calling for a ban or discussing the "ethics" of breeding those things are either removed or a dead link. There is a closed petition from five years ago and a few blogs up directly referencing the toadline bullies but not much else. Have these breeders been known to go after people or is it just a coincidence?

The reason there's no xrays or studies of SMASHED and SLAMMED dogs is because none of the breed shareholders give a fuck. There's zero crowd of concerned breeders who want any health screening done and seemingly no owners of toads want to see these data either. Unless the procedure is AI, cropping, or a C-section, it won't get done. Some breed clubs will help fund studies for their breed but the only way a bully paper will get published is maybe with the cooperation of a rescue group or if some morbidly curious scientists want to poke around for fun (which i hope they do. the dogs are so catatonic they'd do great in an MRI lmao).

The dogs look good, but looking at the IG posts and other kennels, the people in bully scene still seem pretty trashy.

I'd like to preface this post by saying that I love dogs (and animals in general) so much I cannot even put it into words. I believe animals are one of the most beautiful, joyous creatures that make life worthwhile. Seeing a happy puppy walking down the street never fails to put a smile on my face, it genuinely makes my day.

With that being said, I have a colleague who recently bought a pug. She had dreamed of owning a pug (god fucking knows why) for 10 years but was never financially stable and couldn't afford it. Finally, October last year she felt she could afford a dog (her very first, by the way) and started looking for pug pups in our area. She couldn't find any to adopt so she decided to buy one but the average price was, if I recall correctly, around 1500€ - too much for her. She then found somebody who was selling pug puppies for around 900€.

Why the lower price tag? Because the seller is from Eastern Europe. Sellers/breeders from that area are well known for using sketchy practices and lying to your face, to say the least. They claim that the pet you're buying is healthy, has had all the vaccinations required and is de-wormed, all for a much smaller price tag. Win-win, right? Except fucking not, obviously.

So she gets this fucking pug pup and frens, it's one of the ugliest things I've ever seen in my life. I cannot even stand looking at a picture of it. Hearing it struggle to breath gives me anxiety. The poor thing is not even 1 year old and has already a slew of health issues. In no particular order:
- has breathing problems
- has a couple of cysts
- was not de-wormed at all
- has some sort of degenerative eye condition that needs to be operated otherwise it'll turn blind in a few years time
- has knee problems that need to be operated
- has ligament problems that need to be operated

These are the things I can remember off the top of my head. In not even 4 months the colleague has already spent thousands on veterinary care, medicines and special food. On top of it all, colleague always dresses the thing up like a child with stupid outfits and often carries it in a literal baby carrier.

As I said in the beginning, I fucking love dogs. But this thing, man. I know it's not its fault, it's of the stupid human beings who think "SoOoOoO kyut when a dog is so deformed it can't even breath OwO!!!1!!!1", but christ it almost looks like a creature sent from the devil itself to make me believe in hell.

Amazing OP! I bought a purebred golden retriever about a year ago and trying to navigate the world of dog breeders was a bizarre experience. I ultimately found a good breeder but I had two ‘near misses.’ I stan purebreds but it is really easy for breeders to take advantage of the uninitiated.

That being said, the dog breeder/MLM/sneaker head amalgamations that are creating these weird toad monsters are another level. I thought I understood ‘dog people’ weird but I am humbled and disgusted.

It can be, but placing a shunt is really expensive and, as I understand it, only done by specialist vets. They'll try medicating too but I'm not sure how successful that is.

I dread to think whatever nightmarish creatures will these freaks "breed" if/ever cybernetic implants for animals become commonplace for whatever reason in the (far?) future.

I see genetic manipulation or splicing as more likely. Especially if some if these people are already doing DIY surgery and administering drugs and paying for cloning dead dogs, what's to stop some bully breeder paying some underground lab to add a few more genes from other animals (or even humans) to make their toadlines dogs more Xtreme?

Came across this today. Poor thing is completely broke down and can barely walk as is, dude is trying to find a stud to take her to currently. No idea how she is going to even walk if she is heavily pregnant. Fingers crossed she doesn’t take when they breed her. The guy seems to be aware she looks like shit bc he disables/limits comments in his posts.
