The US never lost an engagement with the Vietnamese, Iraqis or Afghanis those wars were lost at the strategic and political level just the same as the USSR lost their own afghan war.

My point is that militarily Syria and Ukraine cannot be compared. In Syria Russia had their best trained and motivated troops on the ground fighting illiterate islamists. of course they will win.

They have every one going into Ukraine. I think that the Russians will win the war but it will be costly. Not just in military losses but economic losses and further depression of their birth rate meaning that soldiers the lose now might not have replacements in 18 years. part of the whole reason they are doing this is because their armies grow smaller by the year. their current borders are undefendable if they do not shorten them and get them as far from the russian heartland as possible.

nobody was ever gonna freeze to death over lack of russian gas, thats retard hyperbole for shock value.
the main problem with lack of russian gas is that it leads to energy prices going up dramatically, which is really bad for the economy because it drives up overhead in literally every business you can think of, thus driving up the cost of all goods and services in the market.
