Street Fighter 6 + Darkstalkers News! - *Morrigan laugh*

I'm going to give a weird take. What if this new Street Fighter is a "changing of the guard" of sorts and this is the last game most of the old school SF2 characters are in? The trailer gives off a "Old vs New Generation" vibe. While it'd probably be company suicide if Ryu,Ken and Chunners were gone permanently in SF7. I wouldn't be surprised if Capcom wanted to do a refresh.
What you're describing is what they attempted way back in 98 with the appropriately named "Street Fighter 3: New Generation" a game where Ryu and Ken were suspiciously absent, and it cause such an uproar that they were quickly added to the game due to fan demands after location tests in the land of the rising sun

This was going to be SF3. And to Capcom's credit back then (1996) they had a poll up as well as a reader's question section on some japanese mags. Everyone complained and bitched and moaned so they had no choice but somehow wedge both Ken and Ryu in a game with the tagline "The New Generation". Akuma came back for 2nd impact and they patched in Chunners in 3rd strike.

My point is, they may of not learned from their mistake and are actually planning on pulling the trigger this time. I know how convoluted SF3 was, especially as an unironic fan of Third Strike pre-vindication. These are just the vibes I'm kind of getting from the trailer(because honestly, everything in a trailer is planned to the letter). Plus with the return of the hip-hop aesthetics, they may be trying to call back to SF3.

You are insane. The next game is going to have a mix of SF2/V characters with the rest being DLC.

Maybe they're setting up for no characters except DLC characters. Will still have to buy a base 60 70 dollar game though. And annual 30 dollar version upgrades. And you know what, throw in a fucking monthly subscription fee too.
I haven't bought SF5 because of how they treated Rose. Instead of having her from the get go she was dlc. Oh no, not wave 1. She was in the fucking last pack. Its bad enough you had to put up with Erica Lindbeck Fuggo Arab Gypsy Genie Whore, but instead they should have swapped places in the line order.

This approach also didn't go so swimmingly with Soul Calibur V either.

It ain't Street Fighter without at least Ryu, Chunners and I would say or Cammy, if they want to age them up fine, a few wrinkles on Cammy's butt won't hurt lmao.

I like vanilla Street Fighter III a lot but the fact that they didn't include Chunners is downright surreal, she should have been there from the start, not Third Strike.

am I the only one who got hyped as fuck for Capcom collection? Sure it doesn't include Rival Schools and it's Capcom being lazy mfs for not porting, but at least they added a rank system.

imagine fucking Gem and Puzzle Fighter ranked. stupid fun shit

I'm hyped, I've emulated the Darkstalkers before but I'd gladly pay to support the series.

Hopefully we will get a 3D arcade collection one day that will include stuff like Power Stone, Rival Schools/Project Justice and Tech Romancer.

If anything KOF 99 and SF 3 are proof that people will immediately walk away if the "iconic characters" are not present, doesn't matter if the game is good (New generations was not bad imo).

Thing is. Do you REALLY want a new Darkstalkers with current Capcom practices and development? The games are great but I think there is no denying that they're SF clones for the most part.

How anyone can say this with a straight face is beyond me.

SFV was so undercooked when it was first released, even people who participated in the live beta told Capcom to stick this shit back in the oven and don't come back until it was COMPLETELY cooked, and they STILL didn't listen to their fans.
  • Piss poor "story mode" for each character that boils down to 3 matches (if that) with some poorly drawn cutscenes.
  • The cinematic story "A Shadow falls" completely ruins what could have been a perfect re-union between Guile and Charlie (excuse me, NASH), among other things
  • Models look fucking attrocious. Banana hair aside, the models are just unappealing.
  • DLC... DLC fucking EVERYWHERE. SFV being treated like a typical current year AAA title
  • logos on fucking clothing
  • eSports reetardation, censoring asses and clothing because we can't have women be sexy and shit.
  • Character's iconic moves being changed for no fucking reason (Claw loosing his charge motions unless it's on his specific stage that's also DLC)
  • You can just mash like a rabid monkey on the controller and you'll get whatever move you wanted out of it (see Akuma's Shun Goku Satsu)
And that's just off the top of my head. SFV was a big I.O.U. that was poorly handled, executed worse, and is considered a fucking joke, only beloved by tourneyfags. Calling a shit game "better as it aged" is the same excuse people fucking give to Third Strike all because a bunch of nips did some "cool shit" in tourneys even though thats all they ever fucking do in any tourney. It's not deep, it's not misunderstood, it's fucking garbage, period!

SFV was boring-to-play-boring-to-watch in my experience. It was slower, moves were more neutered than in IV, new characters seemed less inspired, and the scummy shit like stymying down e-money rewards to make F2P more difficult, introducing lootboxes, charging for nostalgia costumes, etc. meant that something that was already bad only got progressively worse as time went on.

The only thing to learn from V was that Capcom's competitors were making far superior games, and for a game that survived on brand power alone its end is long overdue.

Thanks to CoViD, I can only assume there won't be an arcade release prior to consoles for SF6, which is a shame since it really helps with fighting game development. I'm guessing this one will be made with consoles in mind, like V was.

NG wasn't that bad but KOF99 was just balls. not even for trying to kill off Kyo, Iori, Takuma and Terry, but for implementing striker system in a weird way and fucking up rolls in general.

I think it'd be rad to see it on the RE engine, assuming they stay faithful to what it was (ie keep the sexy)

Current Capcom practices and development seem pretty good to me, again, Street Fighter V was 2016 when the company was still kind of in a wonky place, but they've really made great strides since 2017.

I'm surprised they didn't think to make "Street Fighter III Turbo" this year. It is the 25th anniversary of New Generation and SF3: 3rd Strike is probably one of Capcom's most beloved fighting games of all time (in addition to the nest fighting game of all time). Would've been an easy win-win scenario.

Maybe to fgc spregs 3s is the best game ever. But I think to this day, normies don't care about third strike (mostly due to how bogus the game can be).

The average person didn't care about SF3 before because the game was too different.
The average person doesn't care about SF3 now because it was cast into irrelevancy due to the failures of the past.

Who cares about the opinons of normalfags? I've learned that normalfags can't appreciate anything good and don't care that they don't. It's the reason why we still have capeshit movies made yearly for the past decade and a half.
