Welp, I was hoping cooler and smarter heads would ultimately prevail, but it's happening.

The late professor Stephen Cohen noted in a lecture that while Kasparov is the darling of the West as the face of the Russian opposition to Putin, his faction consistently comes in dead last in the elections.

Now granted that might be the result of Putin and company's gay ops, but food for thought.
The ones that engaged the special troops were mercenary soldiers, working for the Wagner group, that was hired by Russia
Same difference, really. Kind of an open secret that Wagner is a glow op for "unofficially" deploying Russian forces.
Also to calm everyone Europe and the US are absolutely not going to war over this. They were bluffing and Russia has called them.
I wish I could have your confidence. The EU maybe, but I do not for one moment trust the Brandon administration to not fuck this up. They've been saber rattling at the Bear since 2016, and right now they're desperately trying to find some kind of policy win.
NATO had no business expanding past Poland. NATO really has no business even existing after 1991. There was promises that were made but broken. Russia feels under siege. NATO kept getting bigger and pushing Russia east. More and more color revolutions.

In his mind he felt it was time.
I strongly believe Russia's current course of action is outrageous, but this is their point of view. If our diplomatic corps was like the one we had during the Cold War they would've recognized it and tried to work ways to de-escalate.
As horrifying as the current events are, good luck getting Americans at large to want to respond. The Neocons destroyed all of their moral authority to lead great crusades to "stand up for American principals" with the Iraq debacle, and buried it with the Libya debacle. People will not be signing up, if not because they don't believe this is worth getting aggressive for, then simply because they do not have any confidence in the current political and military leadership.
If they've already got an airport in Kiev then where in the fuck is the Ukrainian military? Did they just fuck off like the Afghans did with the Taliban? Like not even France collapsed this fucking quick when the Krauts rolled in.
How many billions of dollars of equipment did we provide for them again?
How'd they nab the Kiev airport so quickly?
Didn't you see the famous 1980's documentary?
And on Chris' 40th birthday too
Holy shit - the Merge really is real.
That would be the political masterstroke on top of all of this that would paralyze the US.

Grabbing the Ukraine servers intact (Remember the reports of heavy cyberattacks including malware and ransomware from eariler) and releasing all the proof of American politicians dirty dealing in Ukraine.

That would stop the US dead while the politicians all play hide the sausage with each other so they aren't left holding the bag.
You know all the media would declare it fake Russian propaganda.
I like that the retards at /pol/ cheering for Putin were shocked when he said he didn't like Naizs. Imagine being this fucking stupid.
One of the few founding myths that kept the USSR going for so long and keeps Russia united today is that they successfully fought off an invading force that literally sought to exterminate them. Anyone that thought that kind of culture would look kindly on Nazis is a fucking brainlet.

I don't have sympathy for Russia, I feel bad that the Ukrainians are going through this, but this is ultimately another embarrassing diplomatic disaster for Biden. It's been absolutely non-stop for him the last year, a shit economy, Coronavirus, supply shortages, Afghanistan, now a war broke out in Europe for the first time in 20 years.
What would top it all off is China invading Taiwan and Biden would have lost three countries in a year. No wonder Biden's approval rating is in the shitter, I can't imagine how low it'll drop by the midterms.

"Our commander in chief is asleep at the wheel our army is asleep!"

"Lol who said anything about doing things with our armies you're retarded"

SHould I assume you're trolling or should I actually post why it is a huge problem that the Commander in Chief and the President of the USA is fucking ASLEEP at 9:45 on a Wed night and doesn't get up when an ally is getting invaded?

Or do you think he'll just wake up, right click, and everything starts to move in the directions he wants?

There's units and commanders in Eastern Europe that need information, need updates, should have been informed over two hours ago as to what is going on. Units should be being put on at least sign in alert status, REGARDLESS of whether or not we're going in.

Do you need more explained?
