General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

Polka did a short 16 minute stream a half hour ago. I don't speak Japanese, but from translated timestamps in the comments she doesn't seem to have talked about the Rushia thing at all. She's just her usual goofy self. JP just don't seem to be giving a fuck.

Is this the start of Coco's house of rehabilitated girls?

She confirmed (indirectly) that she spoke to Rushia right before all this. She's clearly recruiting her along with Aloe. I release my rrat from containment.
Imagine the shitshow that does happen if KSon collabs with Mikeneko after this

It'll immediately fuck over all the good will Cover has as people assume Cover and Kson has had an amicable parting - collabing with Mikeneko will be as if saying she supports her side of the story and that no one should trust Cover

Cover was just defending her not too long ago, so to go all scorched earth on her and give up money by refunding her products means they must've found her doing some really stupid shit
This is particularly telling. It's not a "well she decided to graduate therefore we are going to do something similar to what we did with Coco". The release message was very much a "we are burying you hard now" kind of release.

>Distributing false information to 3rd parties
>Leaking communications regarding business matters
>Refunding all of her merch
>Shutting down channel and membership next month.

The last point is key. Coco's channel is still up to this day, with all videos except members only streams still available. To 180 this hard must have been due to some rather serious shit, especially after they defended her before.

She seemed close to Marine and IIRC mentioned staying near Kanata etc, although since I don't remember her ever showing up for an IRL stream with Kanata or Coco prior to the coof she might not have been all too close with them.
The old ladies gotta stick together right? I'm sure Marine loved hearing stories of what it's actually like to have a boyfriend.

I get that, but no amount of copium or PR spin could make Cover look good in this. Their reputation is probably going to take a worse hit than whatever money they lose from Orca and co. That's a level of petty too extreme even for JP corpo standards.
It mostly depends on Mikeneko's response because even Grifters and non-Hololive watchers are starting to connect the dots that it's a contractual breach issue.

I'd like to think this level of petty would backfire hard on them, but given the way the community on their subreddit reacted to previous events, I fully expect them to shift to a "we need to simp harder to protect the talents" narrative within a week.
I'm guessing what will happen is a small hit to subscribers that will easily be made up for in a few weeks.

Also, did mikeneko delete her tweets about lawyering up?

Speaking of grifters

All I want to say has been said multiple time by many person, so I'll just drop this comment to mark my history on this meaningful day when the Merge finally get into high gear.

So long, Rushia. I like your scream, but there is so many moment you could have save yourself that it's hard to feel anything beyond bummed for you.

Looking through the subreddit of cover's announcement, seems semi-reaasonable (as reasonable as Redditors can get). Pretty much the top comments are "keep work and personal life separate" or "this is really surprising, but some serious shit must have gone down behind the scenes".

I don't follow drama, but as I posted above, this seems to be a very clear "parting on poor terms" situation. They could have very easily gone "we are terminating her contract, but we will allow her to graduate in a similar and very successful manner as Coco. Nope, you are done, the channel is going to be closed, finished.

I hope that last line is a mistranslation lol
I can read the original and can confirm that the last line is not a mistranslation; she directly mentions talking with a lawyer and (to transliterate the second part) "to work towards an understanding".
She's clearly recruiting her along with Aloe.
Hopium is one hell of a drug

The only thing left to wonder and rrat about is: How serious was it?
The entire response from the girls has been so far, to the literal sense: really fucking mixed. We got Fubuki "I'll be the last one to walk outside the door and lock it" acting stone cold, Flare more likely than not reading out something that management gave her, we got that Matsuri loitering on a memorial, and polka acting like absolutely nothing happened. Sure we can go with that ratt of "She wasn't really close to any of her co-workers" but She's stuck with the company for almost Three years.
Maybe this is actually the culmination of many small things across the years? possibly not.
What lies behind the curtain, one has to wonder...

Mate the Statement Cover published straight up said "We're getting rid of fucking *everything*.

Oof you guys think Cover gonna scrub her off like did they with Chris?
It would be near impossible to scrub her from everything, she worked for the company for 2 years.
But its safe to assume she will become persona non grata and will be a forbidden topic among the girls in any way shape or form.
