I was wondering that earlier. Maybe they don't want Ukie insurgents stealing radioactive shit for dirty bombs or whatnot.

It's a very handy thing to control. It's kinda like taking a hostage in Hollywood movies. No one wants to attack it (obviously) and they can stage a false flag.
 
I'm sure there's some there being used for testing purposes to see how they work out compared to the newer T90s.

In the beginning of this, I thought if nothing else this war would be a good idea of how near peer-to-peer fighting has evolved since the Cold War, but every destroyed tank filmed so far is either Ukrainian or Russian depending on what your political slant is.
It doesn't help that everything the two countries are using in the fighting looks almost the same.
