Using non-uniformed combatants is a straight-up Geneva Convention violation, and would result in those people having the status of "illegal combatants" - the least-protected status in warfare.

Remember, the Geneva Conventions guarantee special protections to people of the following status:
  • "Civilian": You're not a legitimate target. "Proportionality" restricts whether you may be killed as collateral damage in a strike against a legitimate target near you.
  • "Privileged combatant" (i.e. regular soldier): You must be properly treated as a POV when captured.
An "illegal combatant" has neither of those protections.
Thus it's something you really don't want to call on your population to become, except as a matter of last resort in the face of extinction.
So either, the Ukrainian ministry of defense is really desperate - or they're assholes who would gladly sacrifice their citizens' legal protections in an effort to hold on to power.

... Or maybe they're just banking on the Western world / courts not giving a fuck about the Geneva Conventions anymore in the Current Year, and simply declaring all that Russia did illegal, and all that Ukraine did legal, by fiat.

Disclaimer: IANAL, just a fellow sperg.
There is a provision in the Conventions for when a population spontaneously takes up arms upon the approach of the enemy, the war crime trials are going to be interesting if they decide to try and figure out if begging people to do it means that it wasn't spontaneous.

IF the EU lets Ukraine fall without declaring any kind of military retaliation on Russia it will give Russia the go ahead to take aggressive actions in the Balkans and the Baltics. Both areas they have keen interests in
those are 2 very different areas. maybe they finaly help the serbs reclaim kosovo, but thats it, they just dont have enough forces to occupy croatia or mount nigger those places are full of very drunken slavs that hate serbs and are not to friendly to russians.

the baltics are very safe. all 3 xountries are EU members and well integrated into the EU an attack on them would mean Poland and the rest of the EU would counter attack Russia and Russia just doesnt has the forces for such a fight.

History never ends, no matter how much delusional pseudointellectuals want to believe otherwise.

"The Fall of Kiev" is going to go down in the history books as one of the pivotal events of the 21st century.
You can't help but laugh when you see the state department making another prediction on when an ally city will fall so soon after Afghanistan, completely resigned to failure. History will remember them as the delusional weaklings and cowards they are no matter what happens from here.

This is incredibly apropos for Biden, who is clearly more concerned with his gay legacy than anything else. He could've just backed out of the spotlight and would have been remembered as Obama's inoffensive VP. But he had to be a big boy and save America from Orange Hitler. Now no one will remember him for anything other than overseeing the chaotic decline of American hegemony. It's almost poetic.

When the Germans invaded they justified the execution of regular Soviet soldiers because the advance was so swift that many of the Soviets were caught in the rear ("occupied") territory. Thus they they were militant "partisans" and could be executed.

You haven't seen rules lawyering until you've seen how countries have tried to skirt the Geneva Convention.

My favorite pastime when a happening happens is to go to Richard Spencer's twitter and see what him and his crowd are saying on the matter, without fail it's always the dumbest contrarian for contrarian takes every time. They are currently saying Putin basically wants white genocide and all the poor Ukrainians want is to join the free brotherhood of European nations that are the EU and NATO, which are of course pro-white and pro-Europe.

The faith in NATO will completely fall apart if Ukraine falls without western military backing
Again, no it won't as Ukraine is a completely different case from the rest of Europe. Every other European country that could be threatened by Russia either joined the EU or NATO. There is no diplomatic obligation to back Ukraine unlike the Baltics or the Balkans. US troops have already moved in to those regions to make sure that nothing happens to them, even considering how pathetic the American response has been. You genuinely have to know nothing about the defensive treaties in Europe to not realize this.

The Russian Military website is returning error 418, "I'm a teapot".

"Um, that's nice, when will we see their military equipment and infrastructure get disabled?"
"Infra... structure?"

Though in a lot of cases they were actual partisans. The Soviets did something similar to Ukraine now and told everyone to fight, even gave a bunch of postal workers guns and told them to fight to the death as they withdrew IIRC.

I would hope that maybe this might shape up the leaders of the west and Europe a bit and make them feel uneasy enough to pull their heads out of their asses and do stuff like embrace nuclear power instead of relying on Russian gas and unreliable solar and wind...

But we all know that's not gonna happen!

For western europe gas gets pricy and its inconvenient, for Rusia streets cats and dogs are back on the menu, if they aren't already, their economy really is that shit.
They have stocked up foreign currency, natural resources, and trading partners with their bloc and China. I don't see how stopping them selling us our fuel hurts them more than us.

>Faith in NATO will fall apart if NATO doesn't defend non-NATO country
??????
Boss, how much faith do you think countries like Latvia or turkey will have in NATO protections after watching every western country meekly imply sanctions after a sovereign country was invaded and occupied

Like are you people really this dense?

Do you fags even remeber why we went into Kuwait?
