If America (and the "West" in general, really), honored their promise to protect Ukraine in 2014, when Russia was conquering Crimea, we likely wouldn't be in this mess today. Unfortunately, America at the time had weak leadership at the helm.

Now, we're in a deeper, shittier situation, and a leader actually capable of making hard decisions probably would have went in and sent some drones and fighters to scout out and bomb Russian troops without prior warning, if he was really serious about helping Ukraine.

but his basic idea is right, you need to show force if your enemy is showing force.
his main problem is the idea that fighting in ukraine would be a show of force from Nato, its not.
Invading Cuba on the other hand would be a show of force and send the russian the message that they are powerless outside of eastern europe.
It would be very cheap for the US to do that and would not cost any american blood, let the exiles and hired illegals die for western powerprojection.

I just don’t see what we could possibly do. Go bomb the Russian military and cross our fingers that no one resorts to nukes? It’s a really shitty situation but as far as I can tell the options are:

a) no war with Russia, Ukraine falls; or
b) war with Russia, entire world gets fucked and the northern hemisphere — including Ukraine — becomes an irradiated wasteland
