This "we didn't know we were invading" stuff is kinda weird and unbelievable, but if it's true, that, the weird abandoned truck column, and the anti-war protests in Russia make me think that this war isn't all that popular among either the armed forces specifically or the population in general. Does Russia have a morale problem?

Thread moving at warp speed so this'll get lost, but will echo the sentiment about this being a few days before we know what's exactly happening sort of deal.

A good reference here is Army Group Center's initial encirclement of Soviet forces around Minsk which helped kick off Barbarossa. That offensive operated over similar distances, struck with a similar degree of surprise, and still took over a week to fully effect.

Basically don't expect Russia to completely walk over Ukraine quickly, especially given the supply issues affecting the Germans barely 24 hours into their attack then are also apparently hitting the Russians here (evidenced by the abandoned vehicles in weird locations). Outside of a political resolution this offensive will be lasting through the weekend at minimum.

Jesus Christ this war is so fucking slow and gay, after yesterday's fireworks.

Now its like omg look at this lone soldier saying that he didn't want to right or some tank blown up or some other gay shit. Plus most of the clips like like 30 seconds long or something and in very shitty and grainy footage when most smartphones at this point can broadcast in 1080p.

I wonder what would KF and Twitter been like during World War 1 or World War 2 preferably during Stalingrad lol.
partying my ass off that i didn't get sent out to die and am now the only male game in town

I see part of it being how the internet has a habit of turning absolutely anything into a joke, even an apparent budding WW3. Humor can really be a medicine for anxiety and jitters.

Just for the sake of argument, suppose Ukraine manages to hold the line. Seems unlikely, but just suppose.

What happens then?

You make roughly 2.4k posts a year and have nearly double my post count.
take your own advice lmao

but also, @Iwasamwillbe told you:
Noting you didn't respond to any of my (or anyone else's) actual arguments, because you clearly have none of your own beyond regurgitated insults.

@Neil, you don't even seem to be having much fun ITT, dude. You gotta take a break or learn to laugh at shit, because it's clear as crystal you're getting increasingly angrier and angrier. It's always a good idea to take some time off from a forum when you're just not having fun anymore.

Most people don't even know what Ossetia IS, let alone where it is located
a tiny area in the kaukasus. nobody needs to know that,

Silesia used to be Polish land, then Prussian land, then Ukrainian land, and on and on.
Schlesien was and always will be german land. we will take it back after the americans leave...

Why would Trump, or any other US President, threaten the Russian leader who has literally tons of nuclear weaponry at his fingertips? I mean you really have child's view of international politics and relations if you think threatening another country's leader has no real world consequences, which by the way is happening right now in the Ukraine.
You're on a lolcow site. You should know from observing lolcows that it's possible for a person to feel threatened without actually being threatened.

More likely they didn't want soldiers putting "Invading Ukraine tomorrow come love me bb" in their tinder profiles.

Words can not express how fucking over it is for the invasion, Putin, Russia; the whole shabang if this is true. It would be THE greatest military blunder in modern history. We're talking Putin is found dead in a ditch and american peacekeeping troops in moscow by the end of the year.
On the other hand, the Russian troops have performed VERY amicably to say the least if they truly thought they were being sent on a fucking exercise.
Fucking hell.
It would explain the abandoned vehicles. The front line grunts literally don't know what their missions are or what the overall objective is. Too soon to know if this is true but if it IS true Russia has a potential catastrophe on their hands. The only way this ends quickly is if it ends quickly. If Ukraine has enough time to mobilize and start throwing bodies into the meat grinder Russia is going to need WAY more troops then 120,000.

the Wehrmacht used Horses for their logistics and the soviets had 10 times the soldiers in that area.
