Plagued /vt/ and related vtuber lunacy - Touhou brony console wars

I'd honestly love to get the full tea but doubtful it would ever be revealed if these girls want to keep their jobs. And I don't know if I am being ignorant but I'm assuming they have signed some pretty intense NDAs.
Des P. / Despan :

2:34:52 [英訳/EN] FBK : Thanks for your support, guys. | Flare : Please look forward to and support our concert later this evening
This is what I have from the main thread so far. We're probably gonna get some answers but nothing conclusive and properly not from cover.

thank you so much for supporting “hololive production” on a daily basis.

We would like to notify you that, as of February 24, 2022 (Thursday), we have terminated our Virtual
YouTuber Master Agreement with “Uruha Rushia” who is affiliated with the VTuber group, “hololive,”
that our company manages.

Regarding “Uruha Rushia,” it has been apparent for some time that she has been distributing false
information to third parties and has been leaking information, including communications regarding
business matters. We have been investigating the facts related to these matters.

With respect to the above, we were able to confirm that she engaged in acts that: violated her contract by
leaking information that she acquired from the company as well as communication over SNS, both of
which she has a responsibility to protect; and caused the company to suffer reputational damage, such as
by publicizing falsehoods to various related parties. As a result, we, as a company, have determined that it
has become difficult to continue managing and supporting her and have elected to make this decision.

To all our fans and any related parties, we deeply appreciate all of the great support you have provided
throughout the activities that “Uruha Rushia” has engaged in over a period of 2 years and 7 months since
her debut as part of the third generation of “hololive.” We deeply apologize from the bottom of our hearts
that we have ended up in a position to have to report this news to you.

Regarding any refunds related to “Uruha Rushia” birthday merchandise for which we have accepted
orders, we will notify you of the details in the respective sales websites and such going forward. We
appreciate your patience.

Also, we will be shutting down this talent’s YouTube channel and membership as of around the end of
March.

Please understand that we are taking this matter very seriously. We intend to put further efforts into
instructing the talents that are affiliated with us on compliance matters so that similar incidents do not
happen again in the future.

We hope that you will continue supporting and enjoying our company as well as the talents that are
affiliated with us.

Thank you very much.

This is pretty big news, so I’m going to take a look at reactions from across the board.

Reddit is not siding with Rushia here. It’s worth noting that the Hololive subreddit is run by Cover Corp itself, so siding with Rushia could very well mean that your post gets deleted. All that aside, I’m pretty shocked that Cover fired one of their biggest VTubers and seems to be keeping public opinion within their favor. Subreddits that aren’t Cover-run, like VirtualYoutubers and okbuddyhololive, have pretty much no anti-Cover sentiment at all. For Rushia’s goodwill among both her company and her fans to evaporate so quickly… it’s pretty remarkable.

VTubers on Twitter and other social media have either controlled responses or are taking some time off. Non-Hololive VTubers are either silent or express unremarkable statements of sympathy, and I don’t care enough to find their responses. Hololive members are giving a simple statement: “I’m going to keep doing my best!” It’s pretty clearly a company-recommended message: tell your fans that you aren’t going anywhere because of this, and let’s just work towards forgetting it.

Hololive EN, however, seems to have remembered the Aloe drama and prepared their own moments of silence and public tears. Kiara canceled her collab stream, which is a big deal because it would have included Oozora Subaru, one of the biggest VTubers out there. It’s like turning away free money and exposure because you’re a little bit sad.

That said, there are rumors that Subaru might also have throat issues and can’t participate. I don’t know and I don’t care enough to look more closely.

Calli has canceled her Elden Ring stream. Her tweet is as follows:

It’s impossible to tell whether Calli is simply sad and caught off-guard, or whether she's angry about Rushia’s firing. It’s impossible to tell who she blames. But it’s very possible to tell that this is a stupid idea for her because it makes her look like she disagrees with the company’s decision. Expect a lot of disgust and annoyance towards her from the /vt/ crowd.

Speaking of /vt/

The Rushia firing thread is so polluted with garbage that it’s pointless to talk about. Most of them are saying that Rushia got what’s coming to her. Nobody has livestreamed their suicide (yet), nobody has commissioned Rushia cuckart (yet), nobody has said or done anything interesting. Expect anger towards Korekore, though – he’s a Japanese Keemstar equivalent. He leaked some Rushia DMs where she tried to clear her name (and accidentally doxed her managers), and this might have gotten her fired.

(to answer that last guy: the whistleblower can shame the journo for publishing an off-the-record convo, which can make them look REALLY bad inside the industry, but it does nothing otherwise)

I’ve spoken about fanfiction before, and I’m going to address it again. VTuber fanfiction has gotten decidedly less common since I last posted about it, and I see that as a good thing. But that doesn’t stop people from speedwriting Rushia stories after hearing the news.

Imagine hearing this news and instead of going to work, going to sleep, or being an otherwise normal human being, you write stories about
  • Rushia killing herself
  • A schizo who writes deranged poetry about Rushia
  • A schizo who writes deranged poetry about Rushia (because you posted the story twice)
Does this describe you? If so, I have only one thing to say:

What’s there to side with her on?

If you work on a construction site with a foreman who’s rather lax on enforcing PPE usage, and get brained by a dropped hammer because you weren’t wearing a hard hat… sure the foreman is at fault for not maintaining proper safety regulations on his job site, but you’re still the dead idiot who didn’t feel like wearing a hard hat.

Rushia messed up because she didn't take basic precautions while streaming and did everything possible to make the situation worse for herself. She had a company defending her and ready to protect her image, and she threw that away.

What's stunning is that subreddits and Twitter enclaves full of simps, many of whom have invested days of stream-watching and real dollars on superchats and merch, understand this fact. Calli disagreements were so common, they shitted up both the VTuber thread and this thread. It is very common for people to blindly defend the streamers because they can do no wrong. This time, the vast majority of people across social media seem to agree that the VTuber involved messed up, including the simps. I'm pleasantly surprised.

Remember, reddit is the hugbox for being fine with Cover's decision.

Every place on the internet is more or less a hugbox at this point when it comes to talking about vtubers and the Farms is no different. Accept but this and you'll see how vtuber obsession is bleeding everyone's brains dry.

Unrelated to all this drama I just need to get off my chest something that really pisses me off about vtuber degens.

THEY LOVE listening to these bitches sing and praise them as talented queens when majority of them are average at best. They (simps) also think they are so enlightened because they listen to jmusic/video game music and not "pop/mordern crap" while simultaneously tuning in and cooming to the karaoke streams where the girls are singing Beyonce or some shit.

Boggles my mind.

It's pretty clear from what Cover has done in the past that doxing is the thing they tolerate the least. Rushia, Aloe, Hitomi Chris...dox employees and/or talent, unintentionally or intentionally, and you're gone.

It might have been a shitty thing for that Keemstar wannabe to do to leak her private messages, but it's totally on Rushia for doxing. With what we've seen in the past from real idols, doxing vtubers could expose them to all sorts of stalkers and other criminals. It's a public safety issue.

Let me remind everyone, the reason why Hololive hired them as Vtuber idols is because they couldn’t fit the part as idols in real life because either they have some sort of mental health issue, are socially inept, or a combination of the two.
I think you could put it more charitably by saying that the idoru market is already saturated in talent and when the virtual equivalent started up, there were plenty of opportunities for would-be idols who couldn't break through in the meatspace industry to have their chance to shine.

This is true, but it's not going to stop me from talking shit about them.
