>Russian military vehicles driving in northern Kyiv

Wouldn't be suprised if the Russian's capture the city to declare themselves the winner. and demoralize the Ukranians. They're probably flooding the city to see who can get their first.
Not Russian, Ukrainian, note the lack of white symbols.

9K35 (Anti-Air variant of the MT-LB armored vehicle).

>UK estimates Russia has lost more than 450 service members in Ukraine attack
>Heavy gunfire heard in northern Kyiv, where Russian forces have been seen

I wouldn't call that "heavy", sounds like a lone MG firing in short, rapid bursts, with the echo from the buildings making it sound more impressive. Likely this is recon units bumping into each other and settling in while they call in for the big guns.

Also, Ukrainian ambassador in Japan announced they need more air support. Why in Japan? No idea, but that's what it says.
Ukraine was complaining that they basically got ghosted by every single European country. They're getting zero support from the West. Maybe the Ukrainians are hoping to leverage bad blood between the Japanese and the Russians. The Japanese have an active border dispute with the Russians, known as the Kuril Islands/Northern Territories dispute, and additionally, the Russians also confiscated Sakhalin.

Basically everything in that map in red was formerly Japanese, but now the Japs only have Hokkaido and the rest got taken by Russia.

Anyway, seems like a Hail Mary from Ukraine because no one nearby is helping or even responding. That, or those pesky Ukrainian Nazis that Putin is pledging to denazify are trying to start another Axis.

Crew is 3, likely no passengers since the doors in the back are still closed.
Closed by Ukrainians after securing the vehicle, hence the strewn out supplies. And the bodies are outside of it.

Its possible that 1-9 soldiers managed to retreat.

Their plan is likely to enter Kiev and to create some sort of new friendly government. They already had control of nearly all the territories they were interested in
before the war even started. All I can say is "good luck with that".

Any government that they create is going to be inherently unstable and minus the money that was being pumped into Ukraine from the west, what little is left of
the Ukrainian economy is going to totally collapse after this. Ukraine was bankrupt before the war started and they will be something worse than bankrupt after
the fighting ends. The Russians are going to have another expensive mess on their hands.

The only sane future for anyone in Ukraine at this point is emigration.
Which is why I thought war wasn't going to happen as it seemed irrational. Occupying Crimea, Donetsk, and Luhansk already achieved all their objectives.
This is a costly war being paid for in the blood of slavic youth so that Russia can be burdened with more ungrateful mouths to feed

Also a possibility. The important thing to keep in mind is that any aftermath footage we're seeing has probably already been gone over by both sides and possibly other civilians before the camera guy gets there, there's no crime scene preservation rules regarding battlefields.

From the fighting at Gostumel yesterday but don't care, it's quite the photo and there's probably more like this happening now, so just pretend it's current and add your own sound effects.

Gunfire in Kiev.

Schizopost-sounding claims about Russian spies planting markers for missile strikes. Seen this a couple times around the Russweb now, zero idea about the validity of it.

Translated article:

The Security Service of Ukraine in the Odessa region detained a man who in Chernomorsk put the labels for the subsequent orientation of the enemy. This is reported by the press service of the SBU. Ukrainian special services calls on all citizens to show vigilance: if they noticed suspicious persons who apply labels, or saw signs (cross, circle), drawn paint, and sign up SBU or the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

In the SBU clarified if you saw the labels (cross, circle, etc.), applied by luminescent or reflective paint, determine the place where they are. Specify: The name of the settlement, where exactly the label is located - on the track, then specify the distance from the settlement, or other landmarks. It is recommended to destroy the label - paint or fall asleep. Tags are used as signals for which the enemy is focused and coordinates the invasion. Recall, in the morning of February 24, the President of the Russian Federation announced the beginning of a military operation in Ukraine. It was also reported that the state border of Ukraine was attacked by the Russian troops supported by Belarus. Earlier, the Fleet 2017 reported that the Russian servants caused a rocket blow to the Zaporizhzhya region, in particular at the border division "Primorsky Pasad", there are victims. In addition, Russia has inflicted air strikes on Kropyvnytsky, Kiev. In the Kiev region go fights. In the Gostomel, the servicemen hold the airfield. It was also reported that in the Sumy region the enemy retreated.

The Ukrainian government asking civilians to voluntarily become un-uniformed combatants is not a good sign.
This is the sole exemption to the uniform requirement of the Geneva Convention.

Article 4

A. Prisoners of war, in the sense of the present Convention, are persons belonging to one of the following categories, who have fallen into the power of the enemy:
[...]
6. Inhabitants of a non-occupied territory, who on the approach of the enemy spontaneously take up arms to resist the invading forces, without having had time to form themselves into regular armed units, provided they carry arms openly and respect the laws and customs of war.

People, what are your stimations of casualties so far?
It's looking like Russians sent in tanks and helicopters without infantry support, which is rookie behavior.
I dunno about the cost in lives, but financially this is a waste.

The Ukrainians are fighting to stay as an independent nation. If they can achieve that, they've won.
I hope they do. Ukrainian men should defend their people and land. From the beginning the actual Ukranians, the non Russian speaking Catholics, would have been far better off separating themselves from the Russians and establishing their own country. There is a real nation of Ukraine it just isn't the one Lenin drew on a map.

Anyway I hope they put up a good fight and aquit themselves with honor. Russia is demonstrating a breath taking ability to mount a full spectrum war so it won't matter what they do, but for their future possible independence they have to show that they resisted and fought hard.

No indiscriminate bombing of buildings is allowed for PR reasons.
Russia is invading Ukraine they don’t care about bad pr. Unfortunately I’m not optimistic that Russia will treat the civilians well as the troops move in

You'd think they learned from Grozny where they did the same thing. Then again they're probably not expecting the average Ukrainian to be as hardcore as the average Chechen.
