President Joe Biden on Tuesday said that the United States will impose sanctions “far beyond” the ones that the United States imposed in 2014 following the annexation of the Crimean peninsula.

“This is the beginning of a Russian invasion of Ukraine,” Biden said in a White House speech, signaling a shift in his administration’s position. “We will continue to escalate sanctions if Russia escalates,” he added.

Russian elites and their family members will also soon face sanctions, Biden said, adding that “Russia will pay an even steeper price” if Moscow decides to push forward into Ukraine. Two Russian banks and Russian sovereign debt will also be sanctioned, he said.

Also in his speech, Biden said he would send more U.S. troops to the Baltic states as a defensive measure to strengthen NATO’s position in the area.

Russia shares a border with Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.

A day earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered troops to go into the separatist Donetsk and Lugansk regions in eastern Ukraine after a lengthy speech in which he recognized the two regions’ independence.

Western powers decried the move and began to slap sanctions on certain Russian individuals, while Germany announced it would halt plans to go ahead with the Russia-to-Germany Nord Stream 2 pipeline.

At home, Biden is facing bipartisan pressure to take more extensive actions against Russia following Putin’s decision. However, a recent poll showed that a majority of Americans believe that sending troops to Ukraine is a “bad idea,” and a slim minority believes it’s a good one.

All 27 European Union countries unanimously agreed on an initial list of sanctions targeting Russian authorities, said French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, and EU foreign affairs head Josep Borell claimed the package “will hurt Russia … a lot.”

Earlier Tuesday, Borell asserted that Russian troops have already entered the Donbas region, which comprises Donetsk and Lugansk, which are under the control of pro-Russia groups since 2014.

And on Tuesday, the Russian Parliament approved a Putin-back plan to use military force outside of Russia’s borders as Putin further said that Russia confirmed it would recognize the expanded borders of Lugansk and Donetsk.

“We recognized the states,” the Russian president said. “That means we recognized all of their fundamental documents, including the constitution, where it is written that their [borders] are the territories at the time the two regions were part of Ukraine.”

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Putin said that Ukraine is “not interested in peaceful solutions” and that “every day, they are amassing troops in the Donbas.”

Meanwhile, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky on Tuesday morning again downplayed the prospect of a Russian invasion and proclaimed: “There will be no war.”

“There will not be an all-out war against Ukraine, and there will not be a broad escalation from Russia. If there is, then we will put Ukraine on a war footing,” he said in a televised address.

The White House began to signal that they would shift their own position on whether it’s the start of an invasion.

“We think this is, yes, the beginning of an invasion, Russia’s latest invasion into Ukraine,” said Jon Finer, the White House deputy national security adviser in public remarks. “An invasion is an invasion and that is what is underway.”

For weeks, Western governments have been claiming Moscow would invade its neighbor after Russia gathered some 150,000 troops along the countries’ borders. They alleged that the Kremlin would attempt to come up with a pretext to attack, while some officials on Monday said Putin’s speech recognizing the two regions was just that.

But Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin told reporters Tuesday that Russia’s “latest invasion” of Ukraine is threatening stability in the region, but he asserted that Putin can “still avoid a full blown, tragic war of choice.”

Really adorable to think that siding with Mongols and Mountain muzzie lovers will save you.
It's less that I'm siding with Russia and more that I'm mocking the people that expect Whitey to fight their wars for them after decades of anti Whiteness being pushed through all of our institutions.

That being said, if he ends up making Europe great again I won't complain.

Really adorable seeing MAGA faggots and the typical white trailerpark trash trying to suck off *based* Russia. The right in America has spent the last 20 years shitting on normal Americans who demand an average wage and imported dozens of illegal slaves from Mexico.

The thing is, Russia really isn't that based. It's all just propaganda to make themselves look cool in the eyes of right-wingers. Members of the former Communist Party elite and their descendants still rule the country as oligarchs, and their state-sanctioned Christianity is a joke. A majority of the Russian people are still atheists, abortion is as common as vodka, the Russian Orthodox Church is a Kremlin mouthpiece, and the official media even simps for Stalin and the old USSR. That isn't "based", that's just kekery on a grand scale. The entire state and the people of Russia continue to be keked by the descendants of their former Communist rulers even as the country is supposed to be "capitalist". And now, they're tard-blasting against the Ukrainians because they're that nostalgic for an era where most Russians were slaves to the Communist Party and had to wait on bread lines while Communist Party members get designer goods from foreign markets.

If they were truly "based", they'd ban abortion and encourage Russian couples to produce kids (like say, rewarding families with tax breaks if they have 5 kids or more), they would encourage free-market economic growth instead of having oligarchs just monopolizing entire Russian industries so that people can have genuine economic opportunities, and they would condemn Stalin and the USSR, especially since it was Stalin's incompetence that made Germany's job easier during the early years of Operation Barbarossa, not to mention it was his idea to team up with Hitler back in 1939 to begin with. Instead, what we have is just a tribute band to the second-worst regime in the history of mankind, only lagging behind Communist China. That isn't "based" at all.

If there was still any doubt about the Russian-Chinese alliance:

How retarded is Biden to think China of all people would care? Even if they weren't pals with Putin, what possible incentive would they have to do anything about it considering they already own the USA and could use this opportunity to make inroads with Taiwan.

It won't make Europe great again since Russia is just another degenerated shithole full of prostitution, HIV, drug addiction and the bigger cities are run by crime cartels from the Caucasus. Putin forces Oligarchs to hand over their white daughters to marry high ranking Muzzies. It's like a crappy version of globo homo America.

It kinda sucks for White Americans in 2022 probably but supporting the Chink/Ivan side will definetly not help you out.

China probably wants the Russians to keep distracting the US so they can have a free hand with Taiwan.

The difference is that Russia has nuclear arsenal, Iraq didn't. Yes I know NATO and EU probably also have nuclear weapons but who the fuck would even want to go there.

Furthermore, we don't know whether Russia's shitty attack isn't strategic before they go all in, maybe hoping the west will back down at the last minute. I mean most people didn't believe Russia was gonna do anything at all.

We're just gonna have to wait and see I guess.
You're right about the nuclear weapons, that's the difference and the main reason why NATO avoids direct conflict with Russia - the threat of a nuclear escalation in anathema. In fact, lots of NATO countries plan routes for de-escalation into any plans that would involve a confrontation with Russia.

The "this isn't my final" form stuff from some is pure copium. You know, maybe if they just sent in BDRMs and Militia alongside the Azov Brigade - but you don't waste attack helicopters on pretending to be shit.

It's just baffling, did the US political system have any delusions that China would be in their corner for whatever reason? It's like they're retarded enough to convince themselves that people actually like them around the world like the media says as opposed to tolerate them because they buckle easily when pressed. Strong leaders are usually not genuinely liked by leaders in any level of opposition to them, weak leaders are always praised by the opposition as it's beneficial to their opposition.

My point exactly. The same kekery exists in Russia, except in an even worse light as compared to woke America. It's a land of pimps, alcohol abuse, and crime. It's a criminal dystopia on steroids, the closest thing we can get to a cyberpunk future minus all the fun toys. As opposed to the images that pro-Russian trolls try to feed you of an ordered, Christian society where white people worship Christ openly and are free to start large families and be proud of their culture, the streets are instead ruled by crime, drugs, pimps, STDs, and mostly-atheistic people dying from broken livers as they sling back cheap vodka that tastes like gasoline. Meanwhile, productive Russians flee the country as opposed to staying and starting new industries because of the oligarchs. Truly, this is a healthy, Christian society that Jesus can be proud of!

(LOL no, He'd probably send one half of the country to purgatory and the other half to hell.)

The Dems thought they could provoke another Sino-Soviet split, but China's not in the mood. They're angrier at the US and Taiwan than they are at Russia, especially with Xi Jinping in charge. Jiang Zemin, on the other hand, might have been down for it.

Depending on how the 20th Party Congress goes, one of Jiang"s cronies might be back. Xinnie the Pooh's tenure hasn't exactly been a great one

Adding to this to say that their birthrate is in the toilet so I have no idea what they're all fighting over. In a generation or two they're all gone.

That's probably half the reason Putin's invading Ukraine right now and making all the power moves he can make; Russia is living on borrowed time, even more so than America or the West are. Maybe he figured that it would be better to burn out, than to fade away.

Xi's rule in China has been one disaster after another. All the economic growth under him came from the rule of previous leaders, and his own moves have caused one disaster after another. Add in the fact that the PLA isn't necessarily on best terms with him, and we might actually see Pooh-bear get ousted by his rivals.

China is watching and taking notes. They're seeing just how weak Biden is and hoping that if the US intervenes, we get our shit kicked in, which will mean it's go time for Taiwan. This doesn't guarantee they'll go for Taiwan, but it makes it more likely. Hell, the US's horrible pullout game in Afghanistan was probably a big part of what got Putin to decide to YOLO this. It's dominos of US foreign policy failures.

This, and also, they see dealing with places like Ukraine as a waste of time. If Russia goes in, and wins big, they don't really care, and why should they - it's two shitholes on the literal other side of the world arguing over where they should be two or one.
With that in mind, Russia doing a quickie over Ukraine will have it's biggest American impact... in making Biden look like an old floppy.
Putin is also a bit of a prisoner's dilemna enemy - the only way to get him to back off is to convince him that you're going to make him regret it before he has a chance to enjoy it. Biden's team may have called it, but if the reports that military places are going down literally less than two hours into the campaign are true, anything they've managed is too little and too late.
What I don't think anyone will deny regarding Trump is he was absolutely aggressive enough to follow through on his claims about vicious retaliation on any theoretical target that was laid out before him. Whether that all-he's-got-is-a-hammer strategy was a good fit for america is debatable, but Putin is absolutely a nail.
I honestly don't think the US ever expected the official Ukrainian military to last in a fight against Russia, they are more hoping that an insurgency forms, give the US as much shit as you want, but funding a protracted insurgency is something they have done successfully in the past, and the US government certainly has the cash and arms production capability to fund an insurgency group, should said group have the balls to hunker down and fight for years (questionable part of all this).
