This is some brain dead shit. There was 0 chance of Ukraine joining NATO in the short or medium term. You have to have all settled borders and no disputes to join. The Crimea and other issues would have to be settled and that wasn't happening anytime soon. This is said to be a gathering of Russian anti-war protesters in Saint Petersburg last night. There is definitely opposition to the war domestically in Russia and personally I think if the war doesn't end soon the protests could possibly get worse even if there are crackdowns.
