Slight PL but I've been on board the plane. I didn't realize until just recently that it was the only one that was ever completed. It may have been the only time it was ever in the US. It came to Bradley airport outside of Hartford, Ct for Chernobyl relief fundraising in 1991. I still have the model of the plane that I bought while on board. AP article about the event at link.

My guess is either they are eating shit or they don't want to brag and publicize war details about how many Ukrainians they are killing to avoid triggering much larger sanctions

You might want to take a break from the internet, maybe go outside and get some fresh air. China lying about what their military is capable of is old fucking hat. Everyone does. That doesn't mean it isn't a threat, but it does mean you have to independently verify their claims. I mean, they also claim that the automatic grenade launchers they use instead of squad based machineguns, because they're an army of manlets, are just as good or superior at suppression, but they haven't been in actual combat since 1979 when the Jungle Asians wrecked them, so who knows.

Also, because their two carriers have ski ramps they can't load the SU-33 variant they use down with large quantities of ordinance. Mostly just some AA missiles. They're not going to attack Taiwan with carrier aircraft, they'll just use land based with real war loads.

A widespread problem of the infantilization of politics is people think that if you try to understand and present your enemy's perspective that you MUST be on their side. It doesn't take much imagination to understand why Putin doesn't want NATO setting up camp at his doorstep. Conversely, it should be quite easy to understand why Ukraine wanted to join NATO and why most, non-Russian, Ukrainians don't want to become a Russian Vassal state.

They probably do not want to encourage any more anti-war protests in Russia. What purpose do they need that kind of propaganda for they are acting on their own and are the aggressors. All they need to do is tell their people that things are going well the "Special Operation" is on schedule.

The Ukies win so far. It's just a shame that a lot of it seems to work against them. The "drafting everyone regardless of age" was a bit of an own goal. Especially as you're not really going to start drafting actual children to the fight.

Once the Russian OPSEC is no longer a concern, we might see something more from their side. I'm eager to see what they have in store.
