The troops are spread out like that to spread out the Ukrainian army on the other side. By coming at them from all directions, you spread everything out on their side and make it impossible for them to concentrate force at any specific point.Man this whole thing doesn't make sense to me, of course to be fair I'm a retarded zoomer in most peoples eyes here but if someone could explain one key thing I'd be real appreciative. Why the hell are the troops spread out so much? To minimize damage from an aerial bombardment and perform a pincer attack on the capital? That would make sense to me if Ukraine were an actual threat compared to Russia but they're not, if they just blitzed the hell out of them this would all be over already and they would have had the capital forever ago.
And taking the capital (by Blitz or otherwise) alone does not necessarly end the war.
I would also think based on their strategy that the Russians are serious about defeating and eliminating the entire Ukrainian Army.
