Why are they calling it Kyiv? All my life I've seen it called Kiev. Why change it now?
They changed it back in 1995. When Ukraine became nominally independent, the first thing they did was have a group of academics
create a new system for translating words into English. Applying their new system resulted in the english version being Kyiv rather
than Kiev. One is not more correct than the other. You could spell it ten different ways in English and they would all be equally
correct.
Nobody noticed much that they had changed it until quite recently. But now you have to use the new spelling because reasons
and solidarity.
Creating new rules for english translations is something that new governments always seem to do.

I think that, for a lot of the gaytheist capeshit faggots, it's basically comparable to Christians who refer to relevant passages of the Bible. Children's literature and children's mass media like Capeshit, Soy Wars, Harry Potter, and so on, constitute fundamental pillars in the Libtard world view; they are lenses through which they look at the world.

Every time someone screams about "white people are racist" or whatever the fuck, I just tune them out now. Because I know exactly what kind of retardation I am dealing with and it is well beyond my pay grade.

Also I find it hilarious that anyone thinks Russia and China will be decent allies, because let's face it they have territorial claims on each other as well as the obvious ones. The moment the US isn't in the picture they'll go at each other instead.
New silk road is why they are natural allies.

Didn't realize the Ukrainians had done that all the way back then. It's just something that I've only noticed in the past year in all the major media started using the new spelling.

Kyiv is an English transliteration of the actual name of the city. Kiev is the English version of the name, it's easier to pronounce for English native speakers. It's kinda like how Moscow is called, well, Moscow in English, but the Russian name is pronounced more like Moskva. Or, for example, Vienna (the German name is Wien) or Prague (the Czech name is Praha). Pretty much any major city in Europe has different names in different languages.

Checked r/Ukraine on Reddit to see what the most popular thing was and it is this:

Bublichek99 (IG) or better known as Vlad Zadorin is one of the 13 people lost their lives on the snake island. This video posted two years ago on his Instagram. A video of him dancing and having fun with his unit.

With the internet being gimped so hard, I'm surprised some of the cameras are still going strong. They must have some kind of redundant system in place for the cameras specifically.

Reporter with a hot mic on one of the streams said they're only about 3 miles from the city center.

A part of me is wondering if Russia is going to seize Kiev in one night, or attempt to besiege it and wait it out. There's active gunfire sure, but those can be infiltration units slipping in during the night to try and harass and keep Ukrainian units up and exhausted. At the same time if Russian units are out in force and pushing hard I wouldn't be surprised. They have superior night-fighting equipment and more of it. A molotov is deadly but what's essentially militia is at a strong disadvantage at night. Either way, I kind of hope that Kiev turns into a blood-bath. This may be my Reagan-loving zoomer ass talking, but no matter how globo-homo the world gets dead Russians always give me a pang of pure, unadulterated joy.

The Ukrainians or at least their government see the name "Kiev" as being a Russian spelling so they've made efforts to have it spelled "Kyiv" instead. I've always spelled it Kiev so I'll likely continue to do so.

It's part of an effort to remove Russian influence in Ukraine or perceived influence, like encouraging people to speak Ukrainian more than Russian. Similar efforts have been made in some of the -stan nations like Kazakhstan to have them speak their native tongue instead of Russian.
