Probably only light forces like paratroopers and spetsnaz have reached Kiev, the heavier elements are still making their way down from belarus

The ground forces have moved 160km in a day and they are likely drunk. That doesn't seem to bad. Russia looks to want to keep everything in one piece and not kill civilians. If the goal was to just crush Kiev they could have carpet bombed it.

That's a live stream from Maidan Square, in the center basically of Kyiv. There were gunshots heard on other streams from Kyiv further out from the Maidan one earlier before.

This, if the Battle of Kyiv turns into a pyrrhic victory, and the government manages to stay standing by evaccing to somewhere like Lviv, I can honestly see a ceasefire being agreed where Ukraine in some form or another remains independent but has it's eastern areas are puppeted, and if the Battle of Kyiv somehow turns into a Ukrainian victory I can definitely see that happening.

Ukraine faces a literal no-win scenario. Anyone who thinks otherwise is either naive or stupid.
You can fling yourself into the meatgrinder if you want, but when you've got other people to take care of, like elders or children, it'd probably make more sense to stick with them.

If they don't win, they would never live it down. The main issue is that they've been stumped enough for people to entertain the thought of them losing in the first place.

Even if they do win, it's looking like they might not live it down.
This campaign is looking like a clusterfuck. When they win (and I'm pretty certain they will win the conventional war) it will be despite their planning and leadership, not because of it.

They keep making excuses for Ukraine and Georgia, when Turkey shot down the Russian plane in Syria there was immediate distancing from other NATO members, the Moldovan-owned, Japanese-owned and Turkish-owned cargo ships don't count because mental gymnastics and so on and so forth.
