My take is I don’t know for sure.
However.
If the Ukrainian Spetznaz or whoever the unit it was claimed to be retook the airfield I guarantee you we’d have seen footage.
Look above. There’s a random Russian truck and an Ivan who has a bad night photographed and posted on the Internet.
If TWO HUNDRED Russian commandoes got BTFO at an airport while a CNN crew was on scene, we’d see the footage.
What happened, IMHO, the airport was kept contested. I saw footage here and elsewhere of Ivans hunkered down in some nearby woods. No doubt they repelled assaults and were relieved by Russian armor.
Don’t know what the casualty figures are. Probably doesn’t matter.
They met their military objective.

I’ve not been trusting a thing from Moscow, Kiev, NATO, or DC until I see visual confirmation of the claim.

I'm guessing it's friendly fire. I'm seeing way too many "Russian" trucks just supposedly rolling around randomly on their own and then getting hit by Ukrainian forces, which really doesn't make sense.

Not really here, but everywhere else. A lone Mig-29 took on six jets in an airspace that's almost completely controlled by russians, and wasn't shot down. Ukrainians inflicting heavy lossses on russians. Their tanks getting btfo. THOUSANDS of dead. And not a single proof of that. And people swallow that shit, why?

It's to counter the Javelin which is meant to use plunging fire on MBTs. Basically the same idea as RPG cages/nets, just on top.

Actually its to break the fuzes of the warhead on shitty old RPGs, spaced armor really doesn't do shit against modern warheads like World of Tanks portrays it. Maybe if they put some ERA on it, it might be a bit more effective.
