For the record SWIFT is the one of the main reasons the dollar is still the reserve currency, it's how the US gets to punish people economically. If there is ever an alternative to SWIFT the US and the UN lose a lot of threatening power.

Forcing one to be created is a very, very bad idea for their interest imo.

China has a fledgling alternative already: CIPS. Still nowhere near as influential as SWIFT, but it's still growing.

Yes, USSR should not have expanded forcefully into east europe, they get what they fucking deserve - NATO at their doorstep. Those countries never wanted to be a part of USSR/Russia, so to make sure that does not happen forcefully again, they joined NATO, because getting shot or guns pointed at your head while being hauled into trains straight to Siberia is not a fun time.

Enlisted means they signed their name to it willingly (although there may be other incentives depending on the country or branch) and conscripted means you have to serve in the armed forces by law. The consequences for refusal differ between countries but I believe in World War I many of them were jailed.
